I have a muzzleloader coming from Jeff in the future. I already have a pre-fit muzzy with his H.I.S. ignition that shoots very well, but I ordered a complete rifle from him a couple of months ago. I have a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22 on my pre-fit, and am in the process of deciding on another scope for this new rifle. I have researched a lot, and talked to Kyle about his Atacar 5-25. I am also considering an IOR Valdata Recon 4-28. I know the Nightforce has a great reputation for toughness and I am very satisfied with the NXS that I have. I am concerned that the Valdata may not have the durability that the Nightforce does. The Valdata comes with rings, which makes both scopes very close in price. Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated.

Most of my SML have Nightforce ATACR, but I have a sightron 8-32x56 and absolutely love the target dot in the center... it’s also illuminating reticle... glass is excellent in it and tracking is spot on ...

How does the glass in the Sightron compare to the Nightforce ATACR Next month the 7x35x56 Nightforce Atac is suppose to be available . I am considering buying one . I have Sightron SIIIs and Nightforce NXSs between those 2 scopes I can not tell much of a difference in glass . In fact I give the edge to the Sightron . Hate to spend the money on the Nightforce to be disappointed in the glass.

I am a big fan of Sightron SIII scopes, for the money I don't think you will beat them but if money is not an obsticle that X5-i 5x25 is a great scope. NF is good too, I have mounted and shot in many, are they worth spending twice the money for a NXS or three times for an ATACR over the SIII? very debateable but they are a great scope.

I am also a believer in Sightron target scopes I have several 8x32x56 some with .125 and .250 adjustments plus a 45power with ED glass. I had a NF 12x42x56 benchrest scope on my 300WSM which I put a new Krieger barrel on I couldn't get the gun to shoot. I started to blame the barrel after 120 rounds it wasn't working. So I had two choices take the barrel off or swap out the scope. I took the scope off and put one of 8x32x56 Sightrons on and problem solved the gun is really shooting. They make a really good scope for the money I would like to see screw on scope caps instead of the slip on scope cover but that works ok.
S&B 12x50x56 is a real lemon. My buddy has one and wished he never saw the thing. It died last year so he sent it back for repairs here in the USA they sent it to Germany to fix it what's up with that! well he got the scope back and mounted on his bench gun totally not useable at 1,000 yards it had a foot of parallax so he called S&B they said send it back and they could correct that right away so another 30 bucks later he sends it back they claim they adjusted it out to 3500 yards. He mounted it back on the gun and the same thing this time about 5 inches of parallax at 1K not good so he had to take it off again and send it back so its not a good scope for $3,500.
Super high end scopes are over rated to say the least once you past the $1,500.00 mark your really splitting hairs on optical quality and internal build spec's I get to look through a lot of different scopes and it is tough to see where the money is being used.

I appreciate the advice and recommendations fellas. Hillbill, I will take a look at the Swarovski X5i, as I have a dealer close to me. I believe that at times it comes down to what you have faith in. The glass in the Nightforce NXS that I have is clear enough for me, but the tracking and adjustments have been spot on. Hard decision to make when all scopes considered are so close in quality and price. Thanks for all replies. Rusty
