I have been chasing this buck for 2 years. Thought I had him patterned prior to bow season this year. Turns out he had me patterned instead. Funny how an old buck knows when you are hunting him. Funny and frustrating at the same time. He slipped up this past Monday evening when he left his bedding area and headed to one of our food plots during shooting light. A .270 Win 130 gr SST to his neck and the chase was finally over. It was a very weird feeling when I walked up to him. Almost melancholy. Part of me was happy and the other part of me was sad the chase was over.
Anyway......... He will look good on my wall. He is the biggest buck I have taken in my home state of Maryland. Looks like he busted up a couple of points and lost a few lbs during the rut. Outside spread is 20.75'', inside is 19''. Taxidermist says he can fix up the broken points.
