On the last day of our 2 weekend “gun” season in 2010, my son tagged out in 60 seconds. We were hunting about 1/2 mile apart, just after sunset, cold as could be, both with 45 PacNors, 200SSTs, 10/50 loads. I heard him shoot and within 30 secs I got a text msg with a picture of the 1st deer from directly over the deer. I sent a reprimanding text, “reload”. He still had 2 buck tags. Within less that 30 secs, I heard another shot: sounded just the same. He was 24 years old, crop duster pilot, and red-green color blind. ‘I started his way. The first buck’s picture was taken from his bipod stand, which the deer hit during its 55 yard death run. He was already starting to reload. Note: our quick reloads were 62g H4198, not 10/50. The second deer came out right where the first had. 1st deer: No passthrus on either deer. Little to no blood trail either deer. 4 hrs in the dark and brambles, vines, dense growth, bitter cold to find the second deer. 2nd deer: 200SSTs pushed too fast, too close can be problematic. There are now such better choices.

Wow, they are both Bucks of a lifetime for most hunters. To shoot them a minute apart on the last day of the season is just incredible. Father and son memories of a lifetime Congrats

Thank you. That Sav/PN45 just manages to kill big deer. Just is in the right time and right place repeatedly. That rifle which now just shoots 37g VV110/200SST or 195B is a very pleasant rifle to use. It is scoped with a Zeiss Duralyt lighted 2x8. Recoil is very low. 2510/30 ‘/sec. That’s how I’ve been using it. It will shoot 2770 with 10.2g VV110/50g H4198, but I use my 40 for longer range hunting.
