Yesterday myself and a buddy were taking a ride up the mountains to Airborneike's to pick up my Shilen barrel (bought it from Elkman). A number of time I have passed this small gun shop but never seemed to have the time to stop in...............well, yesterday we did. Not really much there.........a nice woman seemed to be running it but we saw a really nice shooting bench. This was a "home made" type but really well built. It was ambidextrous, every board was screwed together and the thing was heavy. The first thing I thought about was all the work you did to make those benches for the challenge. Looking at the bench I would have thought it might sell for around $300.00 or so. Really a quality/sturdy bench. All edges and been hit with a router to put a bevel on them. Anyway, we inquired as to the price???....................$150.00! WOW! We could not believe it. She must be getting scrap lumber for free somewhere because screws and wood along would have to be close to $100? image upload no compression

that is a nice bench..our local club has those as someone built a few from instructions from the good ole internet........but I can tell those seats are way too low for me....I need a 'booster' seat
all kiddin aside they are almost as good as concrete bench's that I have on my home range.

I suspect they were made that way so people of all heights could use it. Some might need a booster of pillow. They are definitely not of the portable variety like Droptine's but would be great for a club or on your property.

With the time and labor involved I would not think she is making much profit. Must be sold only locally, could not ship them. Nice that something like that is available

That bench probably draws a lot of attention from customers and if she never sells it she probably don't care.. It's a good conversational piece for her store..
Very nice looking bench and for someone with a little ingenuity they could set those seats up so they were adjustable.. Then even deadeye could get comfortable...

Perhaps she's close to someone who picks up after construction workers. Have a relative who had (retired now) a second income of picking up all the scrap from housing construction. Not only did he get paid for that, he sold a lot of it and built a garage mostly from that scrap. It's amazing the amount of lumber that is untouched, but doesn't get taken back to the lumber yards (costs them more in labor than they would get for returns).

That was my thought Danno..........she is probably getting the lumber/scrap for nothing. She did indicate she has sold many of them and only makes them on order. I would also bet you could specify the seat height. Anyway you cut it, it a good deal for a bench of that quality........and all screws no less!
