I generally use Castrol wax but tried my swaging lube (mostly lanolin ) and it works well too.

On the subject here, what is the favored way of de-lubing a sized bullet....Just wiping down with a rag, soaking ,etc....? TIA

I put them in a sonic cleaner with mineral spirits if I'm doing many. If I'm just doing a few I use a rag and denatured alcohol.

I lube with imperial and degrease with brake cleaner. I'm going to give Royal case and die wax a try though after hunting season.

I wipe them first and then put them in a small can of lacquer thinner and "swill" them around a few time, drain and dry in a towel.

What is the importance of getting the sizing lube off of the bullet?

What is the importance of getting the sizing lube off of the bullet? I don't want the lube contaminating my barrel. It won't hurt it but may play a factor in bullet performance

It will definitely create a barrel fouling issue. Everything about accuracy is consistency and a clean bullet is consistent.

The main reason I remove all lube is to keep the bullet from attracting any dirt or grit. Just lay a sticky bullet down on a surface where there could be dirt or grit? ?? You have just scored your bore! With the wax/lube removed, you lessen the chance of crap sticking to it! I had originally thought it might help a tight fitting bullet get down the bore but have since nixed that theory. with the imperial, I was also concerned about the dirt, I wipe them off with a rag,and they were squeaky clean, just to be sure I used some thinner to clean them, and still squeaky clean..
