A friend on mine mentioned that he was talking to a builder at "Ashland Gun Innovations". Has anyone heard of them?

Yes, I live not so far away and they do build SMLs. They do a lot of brag and shoot fairly well but even with an invitation they don't make the trip to KY to show what they can really do. I have had Charley do some shotgun choke work for me and he is really good at that. I would have Jeff or some of the other smiths on here or Dougs do my SML work. JMHO, 10 ga

10, I live about 2 miles from Charlies shop. I have talked to him a few times about different things. He really doesn't 'candy coat' anything, if he thinks it he says it. He has showed me a few 500 yard 2" and under groups that he has shoot with his muzzleloaders. I do know, that where they shoot they regularly shoot clay skeet at 500 yards. From what I have seen of his ignition set up he uses 45 brass cases and a nippled breech plug. Charlie did say they machine all 50 pieces of brass that are included to have the same head spacing. He uses Remington 700 actions, and Brux barrels. Last time I stopped by he said they had started shooting the Parker 270 Emax.
The fit and finish of his muzzleloaders is very good. Most people always speak highly of them. He invited me to shoot with them one weekend, I think he wants to compare Jeff's ignition system/muzzleloader against his.
I prefer Jeff's design over the 45 brass, and nipple design.

Thanks for the info. Jeff did my barreled action and I could not be happier.

Quite similar to the "Franklin" system which is what I use. It is a good system, but if I remember correctly Jeff used this system a bit and had trouble with gas cutting and then created the HIS plug which I think is the best for LRMP.

I think his is a modified Franklin design. From what I saw I prefer Jeffs system.
