Here is a picture of my big buck I took off of my farm in 2014. I had been hunting it for several weeks during bow season and never saw this big boy.. He came through my set up chasing a doe on the third day of gun season.. I was happy to see him, although he was not happy to see me.

That is a big ole boy. Were you hunting him in particular or did he just show up?

I never seen him before,, no trail cam pics or anything.. He just came running trough chasing a doe on the 5th day of our gun season and I popped him a good one.. Man was I excited.. I was videoing that morning and I got him on camera and the shot but he ran 40 yards, just outside the cameras view and fell dead.. You could barely see him when he flopped over..
He measures 18 inches inside spread and grossed scored at 166 Jeff

Any deer in the 160s is a solid deer.

Nice buck Jeff. What caliber did you shoot him with?

I shot that deer with an experimental cartridge I built for an Indiana customer.. Is a 30-06 case shortened to 1.795 and then necked down to hold a .375 bullet.. Shoots right at 2000 FPS.. It's a legal cartridge for Indiana. It was built to be shot with a supressor because where this guy hunts is close to city limits and he wanted to be as quiet as possible.. Max velocity was 2100 FPS or so but we were able to load it down to around 1100 FPS with good accuracy at 100 yards, and he said most if not all his shots would be under 50 yards... I still have the experimental rifle and I prefer to load my rounds at the 2000 FPS.. I was using a 300 grain Nosler accubond and it punched a hole throug him about the size of a half dollar, he ran about 30 yards and fell over..
