Hillbill,
I'm from Iowa and more specifically SW Iowa about an hour SW of DesMoines.
I have a couple smokeless muzzys and have had a pair of the savages in the past. Really not overly into it like I used to be but I do enjoy keeping up with the progression from time to time. Of course every year when hunting season rolls in I become much more into the smokeless muzzleloading for some reason. I do a few builds/bedding/set up jobs a year for myself, family and friends but nothing like many of you... and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I have been or presently am into many shooting sports from airguns - shotguns - handgun - muzzy - rifles of all sorts - archery - you name it. Like many here I have a childs enthusiasm with an adult body and just enough money to keep me dreaming and enjoying my hobbies as best I can. (Little short on brains many times too) I do have one last personal smokeless build in mind but it may never happen as the cost is just hard to justify and I have too many hobbies already. That said you/I never know when I might get a wild hair and go for it.
Happy to be here so thanks for the warm welcome.
P.S. I am a big fan of the cooking/recipe section. I am going to try that spaghetti recipe and others I see on here for sure.

Long time no hear?.............Are you still playing with any of those bullets you sent me? I did tell you I got into the PCP air guns a while back, right? I never go a compressor but do have two scuba tanks and bought one of those Pony tanks from Joe Brancata........Holy crap, almost $450! Still just have the .25 Maurader and don't know if I will ever up grade. Have taken it to the club and shot 100 yards with it and recorded some 1.5" five shot groups .........which was pretty impressive to me..........Shot a small as .260 for five shots at 50 yards but generally in the 1/2" range. I constructed a 50 yd. range that runs of my rear deck back into the woods. That is as far as I can go. So glad you found us. Things were getting kind of "snarky" on Doug's. A few of A-hole's have since left or were removed so it has improved.

Richard,
Sent the mold out this week for a last and final try at making a higher BC heavyweight 40cal for sabots. No idea when it will get done but I am hopeful soon. This version did away with the bands and the tips will be cut to match the secant ogive which will shorten the overall length a touch and also streamline the transition of tip to ogive. Moulding anf tip isertion/alignment issues will also be adressed.
Still shooting the PCP's and right now both of my guns need re-sealed. I can buy the re-seal kit for my Rapid for about $30. But I have been busy this last few weeks with the kids sports and such... or so goes the excuse anyway.
That Marauder is actually shooting a bit better than most do. Your groups are about on par with most PCP guns. I have shot a few 5 shot groups in the 1" range at 100 but 1.5" is more the norm so you are doing very well. The 50yrd sounds spot on as well. My guns shoot 3/8-1/2 at 50 pretty regular if the shooter can hold. Keep in mind your Marauder is much cheaper than what I am invested in so that makes you the winner. If your 2 big tanks are 4500psi I assume you probably have a year supply of air. The little guppy tanks are nice, dad has mine now, but they just don't quite have enough air for higher volume hunts/trips. I pack my 88 with me and it's a pain but i have a ton of air.
I assume since you have a .25 you are running JSB Kings or Kodiak/Barracudas? If not please try them. I'd guess you are in the 40's for ft/lbs on that rig. It would scare you what that gun will kill with good pellet placement. My .25 Kaliburgun Cricket is running 59# and it has plum impressed me time and time again. Shot count is still 37-40 as the gun is regulated. At any rate it still has me addicted and probably will for life.
I put a pair of 22250's together this year, one Ackley and the other standard. Shooting 80gr amax in the std and 90vlds in the Ackley. They have been the two most accurate and consistent guns I have built to date. I have a 500yrd range a few miles from home now and we have put up many 1.5" (or less) 3 shot groups at 500 yards. I'm not even sure how great that is in comparison to a real target gun but it's made me a happy camper and I don't compete anyway. Right now the 90VLDs are no -existent but I have a bulk order in for when they are available again. Kind of heart breaking having a gun I can't shoot though.
At any rate that's what I've been up to. I still checked in on the other board weekly or so but I grew tired of the squabble and self inflation. So far this site looks to be quite enjoyable.

Welcome aboard. Enjoyable is where it will stay for those who like to enjoy. 1 1/2" at 500 yds is way cool!!

Hey Danno.
I hardly ever go to gateway as I usually go to the Yellow forum. Good place to pick up used guns also BTW.
I had never seen those bullets before but the hollowpoint does look nice! It's nice that he has some lighter bullets as well as those should work well in gas rams and springers also.
Any idea what Ft/lbs your gas ram/NP is making? Just curious.
Not overly concerned about Iowa and the .40 thing and I doubt we see it as there would be little to no pettition for it to be brought up. Wish they would open turkey to airgun but same as above. Or a crossbow season... that may actually be coming.
Where are you in Iowa?

Linebaugh, no idea on the ft/lbs for the NP. I plan to open up a small range in our 68' basement this winter and check speeds of various pellets. Can go from there figuring ft/lobs.
My ol' bum right shoulder would probably qualify me for a x-bow right now if I went to a doctor to fill out the form. But then I think about the cost. My mind can somehow justify four digit$ for a rifle, but not a bow......and the price of those broad-heads make custom bullets seem cheap.
I'm about 20 minutes north of Cedar Crapids. Seems like you are around Greenfield or Creston?

Just to give you an idea on LR (600 yard) accuracy. At most IBS sanctioned matches with decent wind conditions you would have to agg. (average) around 2" or less for four five shot groups. I have had a couple of matches where I agg'ed 1.8 and 1.9 and did not win Like a 1.6 beat me I am getting ready to replace a Brux with 2300 rounds, with a new Krieger barrel on my 6mmbrx for the up coming season. I am going to rechamber the Brux for a friend. Danno.........Like Tim, I usually go the Yellow Forum but had signed up for the GTA also. Never saw those .25 bullets. The 25.3 gr. Kings seem to shoot the best for me. I also got some of the Heavy Kings but they do not do as well. The Barracuda's are ok, but not great. I have a 33' range set up in my basement and have installed lights on my Pact chronograph to keep track of velocities along with pressures. At 33' my five shot groups average in the low .1's and many down in the .0's. It is really easy to judge bullet performance under ideal conditions. Tim........my two scuba tanks are only 3,000 psi but the fire company pumps them to around 3400. I am only pushing 765 fps at 3,000 psi and get around 6 five shot groups down to arund 2100. I then cascade the tanks so I get a lot of bang for the bucks. I was surprised you are still pursuing the .40/saboted when great results are being gotten sabot less?
