well after breaking three limbs on my Bowtec CPXL I finally broke down and sprung for a new bow, this time I went with an Elite Revol, Bowtec has my hackles raised, I put new limbs on my old Guardian 2 years ago, my son broke a limb on his destroyer 350 recently so I bought a set of Barnsdales for it. the CPXL has been through 3 sets in 2 years, too bad as I really liked the way that bow shoots when it's together. I will put Barnsdale on it as soon as they start making them, the factory limbs are junk!
Anyway I sighted the Revol in this morning and went out this afternoon and plugged a big doe, it spent a total of 45 minutes in the tree it's first outing. so far so good.

Way to go! Can't beat that.
Bow tech is a love or hate relationship. Seems like the tighter they are wound, the worse they get (most manufactures). I had the low end Assassin and loved it.
But a sore body and legalization of xbows in IN had me change over. I am now excited about archery season again.

Yep, but truth be told, there is not a manufacturer out there that has not had a limb blow up. I've blown up Hoyt, High Country, Pro Line, Xi, Bear, Bowtech, and of course PSE (Pull Shoot Explode). I was shooting them about 6gr/lb at 80# draw. I gave up stick shooting in 2005 since we can only have one tag per species here in NM if you are luck enough to draw and I don't like hunting when it is warm (>70°F). I'll stick with ML.

I seem to have a knack for breaking scopes and bow limbs, I have shot Bowtec for the last 10 years but until they prove they have solved their limb problem I am not buying a new bow, I will however put a set of barnsdale limbs on it and call it golden, best limbs out there but he said not available til the first of the year, in the meanwhile I will shoot sticks with the Elite and see how I like it.

Over the last several yrs Bowtech has had a known problem with limbs......supposedly they now build there own ......Bill your Elite Revol is a fine choice .......but Elite is stumbling these days ...... they should have stuck with there slogan ....... Mathews Halon is the hottest bow going ..........Bow tech and Prime currently are the leaders in technology. My next one will be a Prime just waiting for the new 2018 models

Bill, I too have been shooting bowtechs for the past 10 years . I have the insanity cpx and I love it . It's the best bow I have ever had. I haven't had any limbs blow up on any bowtech I have had and I really hope I don't. I did have some major problems with the destroyer 340 throwing the string off the cam when shot .. I was hunting in illinios in 2011 first day there I took the bow out to make sure it was still on and sure enough first shot at the target the string jumped off the cam ... that was the last week I owned that bow . 2012 I got the cpx and can't find a reason to get rid of it . Hope I got a set of good limbs..

mine is a 2014 I think, has been through 3 sets in 2 years, I know several guys with the same problem. love the way it draws and shoots but until I get some Barnsdale's it's a junker hanging on the garage wall, when i do it will be my favorite bow.
Matthews I shot for 12 years but they kept getting shorter and shorter, my last one was last years no cam thingie, before that was a Z7, neither were for me,I sent them packing, I like very long risers, short bows just don't get it for this old man, behind the times I guess.

I started with a 34" axle to axle then bought a Hoyt Viper Tec that is 31" axle to axle. I shot better with the low end Hoyt than my current bow. Well I still shoot good enough with the Viper Tec but when I'm ready to get a new bow it will be something 34" axle to axle. Along with ill just but something that is a year old. I watched a lot of prostaff shooters for a bow shop shoot a bow for a year then sell it for a fraction of the cost. One guy bought a $1200+ bow then sell it 3 months later for $450. I'll probably buy another Hoyt they were awesome with a bow I had to return that i chipped the limbs on. My Viper Tec has not giving me any problems.

way back when I started my first compound was a PSE something or another, slow as smoke and loud, terrible bow. my next was a Jennings Arrowstar,(I'm telling my age now) weighed about 6 lbs and well over 40" ata but man I killed a ton of deer with that thing, very accurate bow, string peeps came along about that time and man I was in hog heaven, I could shoot very accurately out to 60 yds.
since I started with recurves and went back to them at times plus the fact the older compounds were all long ata bows I just can't get comfortable with the short stuff. I can shoot them well but they never feel right and honestly I don't see a 35" ata bow as a hindrance in a tree or a blind but each to his own..

Bill, Congratulations on your new bow. I have not shot the Revol however my target bow is an Elite Victory which I have had for approximately 2 years now and love the bow. Elite has a well earned reputation of combining speed, stability and shoot-ability, which in my option I think they do well. Another bow company you may want to put on your radar is Obsession. This is my hunting bow of choice, they are very good at making a shoot-able speed bow. I have owned one now for 3 years and I'm very happy with it. So with only 45 minutes in and drawing blood on the first outing I'd say you "came out of the gate and flying" !!! Best of luck with the new rig, however seems luck is already on your side
