Working on another stock. It's a Boyds lam thumbhole. It is for my "Bestill" built Omega/Brux. The stock fits me and the gun great. However the hand grip areas on the pistol grip and forearm are dead smooth. I prefer something that gives a better grip feel. I have some ideas of what I'd like to do but what kinds of suggestions/cures are there out there?
PS: The stock I striped/camouflaged/ flat finished and put new sling studs is great. It is a 700ML build and is torqued down and glass mounted ready to go. So now on to another gun.
Thanks all who contribute. 10

I have added a better grip to a couple of my guns. One is a Savage 110 in 25-06 that rides in a Boyd black laminated wood stock. I used masking tape to mask off a pattern I wanted at the grip and forend and after light sanding, I laid down a thin layer of Devcon epoxy and used a tongue depressor to lift up on the wet epoxy creating peaks and ridges. When the epoxy was almost dry, I used my hand protected by a rubber glove to press the peaks down slightly so they would not be as sharp and let the epoxy dry. I then took a file and knocked the tops of the peaks down. I am very happy with the feel and it matches the stock.

On my RemPac SML, I have a High Tech Specialties stock that I sanded down and finished. I again masked off an area I wanted the better grip and this time I used Brownell's Spray Grit. It comes in a variety of colors including clear. I sprayed a clear top coat over the grit and it is holding up fine so far.
