Guys. This is something new I have decided to do starting this year prior to the fall Kentucky Challenge.
I am inviting you all to come spend a week in the wilderness on the Licking River. Starting Saturday August 5th and going to the end of the Kentucky challenge August 13th. This is going to be primitive camping and we will try to survive on what ever we bring to the camp and the fish we catch from the river. August is a good time of year to run Trot lines and catch some nice catfish. This will be tent camping and I have enough room for a few small campers like Deadeye's and Kyle's, No place for a 48 foot 5th wheel camper. I will have two canoes for running trot lines and paddling up and down the river.
For those of you that want to attend the Kentucky Challenge but must drive a very long way, this might make it a little more doable for you. You can bring the wife and kids. This will be a great time and I think you will enjoy it, if you like to camp and fish.
A few of the guys that have been to the Challenge have seen the camp grounds I have on the river. The camp is located on a riffle with plenty of room for several tents. There is a nice fire pit, a table for setting up a feast, and a private area for the you know what we all need to do from time to time.
Anyone interested in doing this camp out for a week or even a few days prior to the Challenge please let me know so I plan ahead of time.
Squirrel season will also be open at this time so we might even have some big Kentucky Fox Squirrel for dinner.

Just let me know ole buddy. Last time I ran trot lines in the river (20 years ago) I caught a 30 pound flat head,, Should have seen me trying to get him in the canoe.

de. +1 I really have enjoyed myself both times I have been there and will make it as often as my resources and health will allow. I would love to come but can't fully commit at this moment. If my health improves a little and I can scratch together a little extra $$ I will be there. Better fellowship not found anywhere.

Bill. I can promise you if we run a trot line or two you will have to keep you feet up one the gunnels to keep from getting horned by all the cat fish floppin around in the bottom of the canoe. Some of the best memories and fishing I ever had was right their on that Lickin river....

Somehow, bugs and sweating and trying to sleep on the ground don't sound as inviting at 74 as it might have at 34 I am more the air conditioned motel type of guy now!!!!! "Have fun!"
