A member of the Destin Fleet , "Full Pull" well renowned for there Cobia catching expertise, broke in the 2017 season yesterday by catching the first Cobia of the year...More details to come....Congrats to the Capt. and Crew.....It's on Boys !!... I called Cameron which is the owner of the "InstaGator" to see if I still had an invite to fish on his 37ft Egg Harbor Sportfisherman this season and to get a report on whats the word in Destin....He informed me that the Full Pull had just caught one and the season is kicked off....The Cobia World Championship starts when the first fish is caught,a $1000.00 prize is given to whoever catches it....Cameron's boat caught the first one last year ,but this year they still had the boat getting a bottom job done at the shipyard, should be in the water in the next few days.....

Sounds like it is on down there. Arthritis in my hands is giving me fits right now, don't think I could handle catching bream right now. Can't wait for warmer weather. I get this every spring so it will pass soon I hope.

Alan definately know's cobia, he's one of the best out there on the piers.
It's a experience to wacth these guys fish for these things on off the piers, like a bunch of coyotes waiting on a rabbit to bound out of a briar patch, it's game on when one is spotted!

First pic is the fish leading the World Championships as of now...The second pic is me showing off a 50.5 lb that I Didnt catch even though I should have, this fish came in right on my line of sight..The younger eyed Jeremy Houge called first cast and worked her just right...He got her to gaff and Ben Arnold hit her a little back and no meat... A call for another gaff was called but it was late and no other gaffs were to be on the pier...Another Gaff was found from a fisherman fishing the sandbar....Saved the day to help land Jeremy's fish..Hallelluh...Praise the Lord....This is what its about boys....FYI I'm Fishin tomorrow...

The feds have screwed up the season and whatever else they have touched about Cobia here in VA. Like last year, closed season here in VA and 1/2 mile up the bay in MD or Potomac River water no closed season and no limit on # or size. OH, yeah, just moved a bit for us guys but the lower bay saw some heavy handed enforcement actions. Enjoy the season and catch. 80 lb leader won't stay in 1st for long. 10

Well I had a shot at a 60lber yesterday when an angler was pulling in a spanish mackeral and two big cobia came to the surface and tried to eat it. I called first shot and threw my jig to them , the big one went after my jig and swam with it straight at me, I tried to catch up with him and set the hook but he spit the lure and turned away....Both fish went down and out....SHUCKS is the cleanest way of describing my feelings about that encounter.... Back at Destin, Someone caught a 92lb. and so far is the biggest one on the coast....Stay Tuned....Cobia Season is ON.....

Well I got the call to fish a 35ft Egg Harbor this weekend to compete in the OUTCAST INVITATIONAL ...a three day LARGE money tourney....I hope we can catch a triple digit fish and win everything....which would be around 250K....I would get a little bit of the prize, but braggin rights forever....I fished on a boat a few years back that won 78k one april, These tourneys are what the rich guys put their money up and gamble....Emeril Aggasy the chef has a boat in Destin that I'll be going against...I hate to say this but this stuff is just about better than sex to me,lol....
