Looking at what you guys do to make it easier to remove bolt on Rem 700ML? Carry allen wrench all the time or weld wing nut on bolt? Thanks

I would ask Richard about that, He uses a thumb screw on the ml2 which I also made one for mine. I know they are not the same but I think the same principle. Hope you find a easier way than the allen wrench.

When practicing, I do carry an allen wrench in the range box, but not while hunting. Shouldn't ever be needed for that "one-shot, one kill".

I'm about like Danno, at the range I bring every tool known to man that I own...When hunting I have anything I need in the truck. I'm sure someone could make you a toolless boltscrew ....

I have made some bolt retention screws that had a knurled small knob which you can remove by hand no tools required but I never had the need to remove a bolt while hunting so I just use the stock retention screws which I also make. I can post a picture but it would be a new thread.

Basically what I do is form a new screw with the proper tip but NO bolt head. Then I turn (on the lathe) a piece of 1/2" aluminum rod with so it will fit flush with the inside of the recess on the action. This piece is then knurled. It is then drilled and tapped for the 1/4x28 screw and lock-tited in place and the length adjusted accordingly. uploading pictures
