Recently bedded my scope base to my action and thought I'd share. First I bed only the rear of the scope base, others may bed the whole thing but this works for me. Reason I bed only the rear is because if you take your one piece scope base lay it on a flat surface (table) then hold the front down and tap on the rear it should have a solid no tapping feel. Then mount the front to the action and repeat most likely you will hear a tapping noise indicating a gap between rear base and action. I believe when you tighten the base down onto the action without bedding the base to action you create a bow in your base causing unwanted torque in your scope, which in turn could cause a failed scope. If you bed the whole base without torquing the screws to equal amounts again causing a bow in the base. First I scored the rear of the base to get the best connection to the epoxy. I want the epoxy to stay in the base not the action. Then I taped the rear of the action and filled scope holes with foam, and then sealed the holes with melted wax. I then sprayed the action with one shot case lube couple times to get a good cost for release agent. Then I applied JB Weld to base. Then I attached the base to the action again only mounting the front. When I did this I made sure the base was slid forward as far as it would go before completely tightening the screws down. This helps in any unwanted recoil movement. After I attached the base and had everything mounted I cleaned up excess epoxy that came out the sides of the base. I may wait till Friday to break it Free because I want to make sure it has enough time to cure. Then I clean up any rough edges. Again this is how I do it and it works for me. Just thought I'd share.

Are you going to use pillars? Factory stock already has factory pillars. But the action isn't lining up completely even with the stock so I'm not 100% sure what I'll do next. I'm going to start working on the stock tomorrow and getting it ready to bed. One thing I've noticed is there isn't a lot to work with on the rear action screw for bedding so I'm thinking about bedding only the front action screw and barrel nut to see what happens. But if I can't get the action to line up right on the stock I might just order a Boyd's Pro Varmint as start over on the stock. This started out as a learning project with the cheap plastic factory stock and I only have $40 invested in it so I look at it as I took a learning class.
