Pardon my ignorance. I have a break open Apex 45-70 using the HIS module. Easy to use, module fits right in close and fire away. My question is in regards to the bolt action version. Does the breech plug extend far enough out to push the module onto the plug or does it have to be placed on the bolt like a 209 primer system does? It seems that a bolt with locking lugs extends deeper into the breech then a Rem 700 ML does. Thanks, hope this goes under the title of there are no stupid questions...

The module is placed on the bolt face and then close the action. Placing the module directly on the breech plug by your fingers is not possible as in a Rem 700 Hankins build / conversion. Jeff removes the ejector in the bolt to allow for direct placement of the module into the bolt face. Not a stupid question at all.

If you don't remove the ejector, it will not allow the module to seat against the bolt face. Too much spring pressure pushing it away. After firing, you just go in with the tip of your finger and pull it off the bolt face. Simple as Pie!

Thx for the help J The ejector is not needed in a 700 for a Hankins Ignition System using modules with large rifle primers. Placing the module on the bolt face with a finger is simple. The extractor is not removed and reliably removes the module from the breech plug after each and every firing. Congratulations on your purchase of what I feel is the best muzzleloading ingnition system in existence, the H.I.S. Hankins Ignition System.
