Did some testing with BH209 in my .40 RemPac. I worked my way up in loads since the .40 builds pressure quicker than a .45 and I haven’t seen anybody shooting BH209 in a .40. I think it shows some promise but I will shoot some more to see if I can fine tune it a little more. These loads seem safe in my gun but may not be in yours
Rem. 700 ML action with .40 Pacnor 1/16 twist barrel Savage breech plug .030 bushing that has opened up to .037
All loads were with a 200 grain SST smooth sized a wool wad and Fed. 209A primer
BH209 loads were by weight
All targets were shot at 100 yards
Primers were starting to show some signs of pressure as I worked the load up

Do you have a powder chamber ? Also do you know what kind of velosity your getting ?

It would be interesting to me to see Pressure Traces with the BH powder, do not know if that is possible or not.

That has already been planned for the spring shoot.

Went back to the range for a little more shooting. I tweaked the 77 grain load to 80 grains to have an easier number to remember. Typically it takes about 5 grains by weight of BH209 to see much difference. I shot the 80 grain load with a much thicker wool wad that were mixed in my wads. They came that way from Track of the Wolf. As you can see from the target it didn’t like it. I will reshoot this load with the thinner wad. I tweaked the 84 grain load to 85 grains and went back to the thinner wool wad and the group was very good. The 90 grain load was about the same as the first time I shot it with two almost touching and one flier.
