I currently have a rem ml and a cva scout v2 converted. They both use 209's, yet i got the itch again! I recently ordered a bare rem 700 short action. I probably should have went with the single shot action but i didn't. My question is if i go with the hankins lrmp do people just put a blind mag for the bottom metal or whats everybody doing? Really wish i would have went with the single shot action but i didn't even think about it at the time!!! Guess ill have more stock options now!(gotta look at the glass half full) Thanks!

You can install a single shot follower in the action and you are good to go. This is what I do when I use a repeater action.

That would work, but I make my own.

Jeff, I wasn't aware that you made single shot followers. I'm sure it's a top notch product.

Its just a piece of aluminum cut to fit the action and epoxied into place. Score high makes them and Sinclair sells them. Good product at a good price.

have used several and they work great, don't feel bad about not using the single shot action, the repeater will work fine.. lots of guys have used them with good success, I really don't think you would ever see an accuracy difference unless maybe you were shooting bench rest competition.

I'm debating with myself right now over going with the SA 700 single shot or the Savage target action. Leaning towards the 700 just because although it limits future barrel options.

the deciding factor for most is the fact that stocks/aftermarket parts are so plentiful for the 700s and clones, the Savage is a great action but stocks are a little harder to come by.
