What not order a Boyds and sand it down to fit? Then re finish? That is what I would do. Order it and modify it to fit your hands, But stay away from the thumbhole as I don't think it will ever be able to fit small hands. The trigger pull is a reach for me and I have big hands.

My HS Precision PSV004 fits my small hands very well. The grip area is much smaller than my Boyd's thumbhole or Pro Varmit.

Hanks right about the Boyd's thumbhole I am doing two right now and I don't like to have to reach for the trigger and I have big hands but It feels uncomfortable to me a vertical grip stock is better.
Probably the best advice is buy a wood stock that you can customize to fit you. The Boyd's Heritage stock and the Prairie stock have small pistol grips but you can't put a real heavy barrel on one of these the Heritage will take a Sendero taper the Prairie hunter won't. The HS Pro Varmint has a small palm swell that might fit you.

Elkman is right on about the boyds prairie hunter and the heritage having a small grip. I have two prairie hunters and one heritage and for me I haven't had a problem with heavy barrels with these stocks. They did take a lot of sanding in the barrel channel and I even epoxied all thread in one of the Prairie hunters forearm that seemed to stiffen it up nicely.

I don't understand the issue with the trigger reach with the Boyds Thumbhole? With the one I have I don't have an issue. My issue is the rest of the stock feels like it's made for a Viking or Amazon man. This year I plan on stripping mine down and sanding it down to fit better. It will be my boys set up but still want to have it fit better.
For my new build I am going to try a factory Savage Varmint synthetic stock. I picked up on eBay for $29. Been told by a couple people that it's a junk stock but figured it was the best way I could see if it's something I want before spending a lot of money.
How do some of you test the feel of a stock before you buy when you have nothing local that carries different shapes and sizes of stock? For me I felt the was the best way.

Clayman.
Not sure of what you wish to spend and they are not my cup of tea but have you looked at any of the chassy systems that utilize the AR15 configuration on the grip assembly. I have only been around a few and they are rock solid and feel better than they look. (I don't like the space gun look) On top of that most of the systems allow a ton of adjustability for LOP, comb height, cant... kind of like when we get fitted to a shotgun. The downfall is the price. But if you are going to buy a custom (for you) stock or have one modified by a smith you are creeping up on price... especially if you are considering a custom hand laid synthetic.
Just a thought.

That's why you can buy them for 29$. It isn't rocket science. BTW... All.. I am not flaming Chad, we are friends and I am the one who told him they are junk. I'm just giving him a hard time.

Lol wasn't going to say any names who said they are junk. But if you want to call yourself out by all means!! Just wish I had a way to test fit stocks without buying them then having to send them back. Going to Guns Unlimited locally and see if they have anything.

I have small hands but have no problem reaching the trigger on my Boyds thumbhole. As you say the rest of the stock is big and not comfortable to me.

Those AR style stocks by far feel the best and are the easiest to adjust just hate the way they look!
