when i shot the 458 bullets out of my ML2 i used the orange MMP sabots. i did not shoot a ton of them but it seemed to work well.

When I had my Savage MLII,it had a very loose bore. After experimenting with just about everything out there,I ended up using the Barnes Original 300 grain .458 Bullet with the Harvester Black Crush Rib Sabot. That with 67 grains of Reloader 7 was a real tack-driver.

I have both harvester and orange mmp's coming. where are you all getting the barnes 300 semi spire points? I can't find them in stock!

I have never in 7 yrs. seen the barnes originals in stock anywhere. They only make seasonal runs of them.

Maybe it's just my rifle but I have never been able to get decent accuracy with MMP sabots.

In my 2 MLII I found that the blue barrel liked the orange MMP sabot and .458 X 300 grain bullets best and the SS barrel liked black crush rib sabots and .458 X 300 grain bullets. The sabot vs accuracy differences were very slight but measurable. I personally like the Speer .458 X 300 grain FN bullet and it always gave great terminal performance. I also tried the Hornady and Rem .458 X 300 HP and they were way too fragile for my taste even on deer. JMHO. 10 ga
