Had a chance to shoot my new Remington Pre-fit barrel over the weekend with some 275 grain Pittman Accumax and IMR 4198. Amazing accuracy. Best group was 3 shots at 100 yards into less than .20 inches!!! Pretty sure I have only ever shot one other group that would measure that small and that was with a custom built bench rest rifle in small caliber. Thanks Jeff for a great product!

Very impressive, glad to see everything came together well.
Is 66grns of 4198 the max charge that has been suggested or is this were you have found your best accuracy.

66 grains is the most I have tried. 65 was the recommended max by Jeff.

What needs to be done with a factory 700 bolt to get it ready to accept jeffs modules. I know it a lot to ask but for us new guys trying to hone our skills at the SML field could someone put together a clip of pics or a small video of mateing together the action and barrel. It would really help out the newbies working on their Passion for the love of guns. Thanks

You will need to remove the ejector, not the extractor, from your bolt for Jeff Hankins - Hankins Ignition System Modules.

Wanted to post a quick update. My dad also ordered a Remington Pre-Fit barrel from Jeff after seeing the results from my rifle. We screwed it on to an existing Remington 700 Sendero 22-250. This particular rifle had been rebuilt several years ago to a #7 contour Shilen so no additional stock work was necessary for the new barrel. It was a simple install and has also proved to be a very accurate shooter. His best group to date is a 3 shot group at 100 yards with 275 gr. Pittman Accumax bullets that measured less than .30". Needless to say we are both very happy with our Remington pre-fit barrels from Jeff. Thanks again Jeff.

Jeff, Do you still have any of these barrels in stock?
Is the max recommended load for these barrels lower than that of a barrel headspaced without the barrel nut?
Thanks!

Goose I have some more on order, Should be here in a few weeks. These barrels are 1.062 diameter so yes the recommended load will be less than that of a full 1 1/4 inch barrel.

Ok remember no such thing as a stupid question!! The barrel nut is so you can headspace the breech plug to the bolt? How exactly do you headspace one of these prefit barrels. I'm new to the game but I do have a idea just would like some insight. Thanks critter

You don't critter............They will come head spaced for a Remington action. Everything is set up so when you screw it on, your good to go. The reason for removing the "ejector" that Kyle mentioned is that the spring tension will not allow the module to seat against the bolt face if you leave it in. Just knock out that thin little pin that is horizontal to the ejector and remove the ejector and spring and your done. You will need some way of holding the barrel tight and then some way of tightening the action to the recoil lug and barrel. Remember the recoil lug needs to b properly lined up for the recess in your stock. Brownells makes a fixture that holds it in place but you can get away without it. Put the loose barreled action and recoil lug into your stock and tighten up the action screws..........then tighten the barrel You might put a little tape on the side of the recoil lug that wants to hit the stock. This way when tight, you can remove the tape and the lug will fit properly into the stock and not bind. Barrels do not have to be super tight ................if you do it this way and cannot put a lot of torque on it, then put some lock-tite on the threads. If you have a barrel vise and a action wrench then you can "crank it on!" with no lock-tite. The difference in headspace is only going to be a matter of a few ten thousandths which will not cause any problem.

What are the best primers to use for HIS ignition system in the prefit barrels.

I dont think it makes much of a difference . Some use Federals others Winchester. I have used both and really cant tell much of a difference .

Saw in a Cabela's flyer they're offering a sale on the Remington 700 ADL chambered in 223, 22-250, and 308. Final price after rebate is $375. Looks like a good opportunity to get an action to build my next SML. Sale lasts till the end of August. Just a heads up for anyone wanting a deal on an action. Sounded like a good price to me.

That is a good price.. Remington mass produced actions are hard to beat for what you get.. not 100% quality but will shoot pretty darn good when you install a quality barrel.
