Here is another new one! This one is built using the usually Rem M/L action and all my other stuff. Customer had this HS police special stock he wanted to use. The stock is really strong and long enough for a longer barrel. But this stock has a hard rubber recoil pad if you want to call it a recoil pad. The gun shoots great but seems to transmit more felt recoil than a HS Pro Varmint stock which also doesn't come with a great recoil pad but it is better than this one. The Boyd's Pro Varmint with a up graded limb Saver pad is much nicer to shoot. The customer likes the gun and he likes this kind of stock and that's what is important. He plans on up grading the scope as soon as he can. Not everyone has deep pockets so you work with what they have.

That's a very nice build. Your guy should be very happy with that one.

Nothing wrong with that Burris. I have a few with no complaints. Nice and simple looking build, and obviously shoots as good as it looks.

It got him into the smokeless muzzleloader game. That Burris scope was very clear it seems that a 1 inch tube stays in place a lot easier than a big heavy 30mm tube. He is only going to use the mill dots in the scope for different ranges.
A few months ago I built and sent two muzzleloaders to Iowa. The one guy killed a double drop tine buck that scored over 160. He hunted again on a party hunt tag don't know much about it but at any rate he killed a giant that went 180" But the real thing that amazed me was a few days later he killed a coyote with the same muzzleloader at 352 yards he could have cared less about the two bucks all he wanted to do was talk about killing that coyote it was the talk of the whole area he though he was a celebrity. Man I would love to kill just one buck in my life time that goes 160"

I have done a few on the plastic Remington 700ML factory stock............well bedded with pillars and the forend stiffened up with an aluminum rod epoxied in place. They were more than capable of small groups. Just remember, Elkman is a long time - long range benchrest shooter and knows how to handle a rifle. The guy who gets that rifle may not be able to duplicate that group based on his expertise? ? The trigger puller is the biggest link in the accuracy chain!

Richard is right about that. But I go shoot with as many guys as I can that I build the rifle for and most of them are really good trigger pullers. I test every gun and sometimes condition's or even I am not up to the level of performance I should be.
I have two more M/L'S I am building right now it will be the battle of the Boyd's thumbhole stocks not my favorite but there again it's what the customer wants. I hope to have them done in a week or two I will post them when there done. One will have a Leupold 3x18x50 VX6 ILL. Not sure what the other will use.
