Does a stock Knight plug have a liner in it ? Also does shims work with any longevity ? I hate the idea of shims to fix a headspace problem .

The new plugs from Knight have a vent liner brazed in. I cant comment on the shims. None of mine have needed them with a Win209. Mine are also original Lehigh plugs with removable vent liners. I also have a Bestill plug with a bushing that was custom made for my rifle.

I shot my mountaineer with the original plug today. It also seals well with Winchester 209s . I was told by a dealer thst it had a bushing in the plug but to me it just looks like a vent liner . Just like you said

Just like you said Doug, Some people don't know the difference between a bushing and a vent liner..... Unless the dealer is an avid ML shooter and keeps up with this stuff, he probably truly thinks it is a bushing.

Real Lehigh plugs and Bestill's plugs are also made from better steel than a Knight plug. Bestill and Lehigh used 17-4 SS. The Knight 416SS plugs with the brazed in vent erode the flash hole faster too.
Lehigh never made a plug for Mountaineers except under contract for Knight. Bestill does make his bushing plug for Mountaineers and its well worth the money.

Actually i like the idea of a bone stock class as long as they dont allow Ultimate to shoot their customs and try to pass them off as "off the shelf" rifles. Ultimate did very well in the Inline match until custom 45s became popular.
The Knight plug is a pain to remove that brazed in vent but it can be done and replaced with a regular Lehigh vent liner. Technically it would still be stock since all the parts are made by Lehigh to the same dimensions.

I honestly don't care on classes . I'm good with whatever . Best shooters will still be at the top . Did the ultimates bring a .45 that they do not offer ?

I have used Knight shimmed breechplugs through a few ventliners now, and still going. With a stock plug, they will definitely last the life

I tried putting shims in . They deformed and fell out within just a few shots. I didn't try to glue or opxy them in I was told to use a old primer to push them down

Who's shims did you use? The ones for the Knights are larger than ones used for a Savage plug IIRC.
On MML forum sabotloader lists the 2 OD sizes needed. One is just to get the thickness needed and the other is for final use.
