I'm sitting in the shooting house with Jeff Blakely waiting on some deer to come out. Deadeye shot one yesterday with a 325 Pittman Accumax using his Nickle Girl ML at 370 yards. We have seen about 200 turkeys today but no deer yet.. Here is a picture of what we see.. we have exactly 1008 yards we can shoot..

A deer kill at 1000 yards will be cool and maybe a great video what you think.

We had a great hunt but not shots.. with about 20 minutes of shooting light left we had 5 bucks with good head gear come out at 830 yards.. being almost dark we decided not to take a shot and just watched them till total darkness.

back home late last night,had a awesome time much appreciated!
not sure if prior mentioned but we put up a gong & a couple of other targets with wind flags(blue flagging tape). no time to return to play the 1,000 yd gong but it will get done in off time someday. I know ole hank & Cyclops are just itching for the bell sound!
just a few shots to verify trajectory & wind with both guns with success on both guns.
most of our conservation was on wind shifts etc especially with a river 1/2 circling the field with 2 main cross draws that were very interesting in watching the 2 flags, 1 stationed @ approx. 330yds the other @ 700yds.
and a lot of turkey talking.
the winds on this field are somewhat predictable but you have to be on your toes all the time as many switches taking place at a moments notice. a spotter's is a must.
most of our winds out there were approx. 60% value & here is a little data on a straight crosswind which are approximates varying from gun to gun/Cyclops will be less hold than my set-up.
@500yds..........3mph................................... 1.5moa=8.0" @700yds just a 3mph crosswind will result in a 2.4moa=17.6" hold @1,000 ....................................................a 4.0moa=41.7" hold
I must say in all fun I was finally able to to crawl into a "bubble" & mute out the sonic boom of Cyclops due to concentration downrange!
