Sounds like an awesome scope. I have an old NF NXS 3.5-15x50 and would like a high magnification FFP scope. The ATACTR is in the running if I decide to upgrade. One mans want is another mans need. Worth is a personal thing. I don't buy often but when I do, I buy the best quality/features I can afford to meet my need (want!). Life is short...

I agree Richard that the older Nightforce scopes are good ones, but the boys at NF aren't standing still. They're new stuff, while too expensive for me at his point, are fine pieces of glass. I pick one up every time I'm at the gunsmith, but I can't run faster than my gunsmith(or the .45 on his hip) so I put it back in the case.
My only point is that they are advancing the ball......Most shooters would not be handicapped by shooting one if they could afford it.

I think there is more WANT than NEED!

That last comment I can't argue with. Fortunately I am not in a position to drop $3k or want would win over need ;-)

I looked seriously at the 7-35 ATACR until I saw it was a first focal plane scope. Then I looked even further at the low end magnification. 7 power is pretty strong and 8 is even higher, so that rules out an 8x32 for me. Guess I'll stick with a low end magnification of 5 like what's on an ATACR.
