I about cried when I bought my first $2000 dollar scope . Not sure if I could bring myself to buy a 3500 dollar scope . You guys have corrupted me enough already . If my wife had any idea on the amount of money I have spent in the last year on guns and scopes I would be sleeping in my shop !

That is way over kill for any muzzleloader. We hunt long range here in Pa. And we never get above a 22x NF scope I told Richard we killed a really nice 9pt buck on the last Saturday of our season at 1850 yards that's right 1850 yards and we had no problem seeing the deer and getting a really good aiming point with a 22x power scope we have made kills further than that with a 15x Unertl target scope.
If you have that king of money to spend then it won't be a problem but for muzzleloader than will never see usage a even a 1,000 yards spend your money some where else.

Not braggin, but in 2002 when I broke the 1K five shot small group at 1.564" it was with the old model Leupold 24X BR scope I bought used for $300! Scopes like that are for people who think they need to spend a fortune to shoot small when what they really need is practice! The best gun and scope is only as good as the trigger puller.

Never heard of anyone shooting a deer @ over a mile away! I would be extremely concerned with wounding? Each to there own and I can fully get with idea of shooting steel at 1mile+ although I guess I have way to much respect to even consider pulling the trigger on a deer or any other animal at that range!

I think that some people like myself will pay more to get a Nightforce or some other quality scope just for the insurance . I want the durability and I don't want to worry about my scope failing . They are not after shooting a mile . I have sold 2 different guns because of bad scopes but at the time I was not smart enough to realize it . Now I'd rather have a few good scopes and a bunch of picattini rails on everything . With that said I still don't think I can bring myself to buy a 3500 dollar scope . YET !!! LOL I never thought I would spend the money on guns that I have in the last year also !

I'm with Doug, I will pay more for a quality scope for the peace of mind and performance.
Although I enjoy shooting off a bench I'm a hunter 1st and bench shooter 2nd, that being said my priority in a scope is holding up to recoil, clarity, color saturation and most of all twilight performance.
Kyle thanks for the information on the new scope, I'm always interested to see what new to the market.

Not trying to pick a fight, but most people here are shooting muzzleloaders that cost 10 times the cost of a traditional muzzleloader because of the performance. I see no difference in the preference for glass. If a Nightforce takes us to the next level in optics performance, I'm all for it. The best isn't cheap, but in most cases you get what you pay for. I own one older Nightforce NXS and it is a fine scope. I also like Burris, Vortex, Pentax and all my others. I'd trade all of them 1 to 1 for an NXS. I've heard the ACTAR is even better, but I'm still saving for that one........

But................I can guar n F in t that it will NOT shoot smaller groups than the same rifle with and old NF 8 x 32 or hold up to recoil any better. It is strictly there for bragging rights. I see it all the time...........A guy like Chad on this forum (not riverrat) shoots 600 yard benchrest matches with me. He uses a plain ole $800 Sightron 8 x 50 x 60 and took Shooter of the Year from some 50 of the best long range benchrest shooters in the country. And yes, there are the super high dollar scopes being used by a number of shooters. Lets face it, all these companies come out with new products because they want to entice people that they need to have the latest and greatest; and, there are always people who will buy them. The benchrest crowd developed the PPC cartridge. Short and fat back in the early 70's and now look at all the short fat belt-less "magnum" cartridges on the market? Tell me the 30/06 is not taking deer to 300 yards and beyond? Benchrest accuracy and deer killin' accuracy are a little different. If I could get another NF 8 x 32 like the one I have for a similar price, I would buy it in an instant.
