Just wondering what the powder shelf life was on a pound of powder, with all the talk of 3031 I went down to my gun room and dug thru my powders and found this, sealed never open and not sure if it's 1996 or 2012 I am guessing 1996

I have read several guys over the years that use powder that is 30+ yrs old. You should be fine!

There were people posting in forums that they used WWII surplus as late as the '80's. Have always heard that if it's kept cool and dry, it will last indefinitely.

I continue to use some powders my dad bought back in the mid 60's, no problem.

I have powder that I've had for over 30 years and it seems to be fine too.

The 3031 I am going to shoot and have shot in the past, is circa 1988! I still have a cardboard can of Hodgedon 4831 marked Sept. of 78. Just keep it on the cool and dry side with low humidity.

I had a fairly long discussion with a representative at Hogdon a while back. He said pretty much what has been stated, keep powder in cool, dry location and shelf life is very long.
