so im going sabotless soon but i havent decided on sf or ff. but while i was in cabelas getting more 200g sst i saw the hornady 225g ftx .452 dia polymer tipped bullets...but they appear to have a slight boattail design. would they be a good candidate if i go smoothform??

Its fine if you like a grenade at speed. They are designed for 45LC lever guns not the 460S&W type speeds.

No boattail. I have shot a bunch of them and they work just fine. A little mangled meat is called "collateral damage!" Sure beats having to tack them!

Frankly I would forget about using them on a whitetail at smokeless speeds. I have seen first hand what can go wrong with them.My bud launched one at a doe and hit her square in the shoulder...she went straight down and then jumped up and hauled arse out of there. a hour later after jumping her numerous times I finished her off when she busted out my side of the canal.Upon inspection the FTX had blown a crater on her shoulder. No penetration. I wouldn't risk it. In my little H&R its a entirely different story...very deadly and accurate.

The 250 bonded shockwave is identical in size to the 250 sst's. However, the jacket will not separate from the core.
