My first kill with the .40 RemPac.
Load:
10/65 N110/IMR3031 MV about 2900fps Smooth sized 200 SST Wool Wad Fed. 209A
On Oct. 13th I lost a big buck (216 yard. shot) with this load so I was anxiously wanting to get another opportunity to try it out since I had not used the 200 SST before. With the results the 200 SST achieved on this buck I know without a doubt the lost buck was my fault. Still makes me sick!
Not a great buck but none the less a 185 lb. 8 pt. The shot was 150 yards and was quartering to so it was going to be a good test for this bullet. The bullet did not exit which I didn’t expect it to on that angle. It absolutely destroyed the shoulder with big chunks of bone coming out of it when I dressed him. The bullet made it to the off side with a small hole in the ribcage. I didn’t find the lead core but did find the jacket in the congealed blood that formed in the ribcage once I removed the guts.
He only went about 40 yards.
Shoulder:
Entrance inside chest cavity:
Exit side small hole in chest cavity:
Jacket:

Any body who thinks a 200 gr. bullet traveling at the speeds we shoot them will not be potent on ANY deer is sadly mistaken. It is more about how accurately you can load and shoot it and at what distance it will still be accurate. Nice shooting Scott!

That is great. I really want to take one with my Axis Mcgowen 40 at 3050 fps but it hasn't happened yet. My hunting partner shot both shoulders out of a buck with a 200 sst saboted at 2600 fps. We didn't find any remains of the bullet.
My h&r iron sighted conversion has killed 2 with a 250 tez bullet. Devastating to say the least.
