I tested the 275BE with my Rem 700 ML with 1:22 twist .45 McGowen barrel using 95 grains by weight of BH209.
Fed. 209a primer .060 Veggie wad No sizing just pack to bore MV about 2400 fps
300 yards Jugs are 13.5" long and filled with water
The jacket was found in the second jug and the lead core exited the second jug and could not be found. One really interesting and unexplainable event is the bullet jacket appears to be engraved by the grooves two times. Not sure how well you can see this in the photos. I will retest with three jugs at 300 yards later.

Although it was opened up even more, that looks similar to a 200gr SST that went through both scapula of an 8-pointer I shot years ago. Jacket was on inside skin of exit side: Edge referred to it as bullet failure, but the deer failed just as fast. DRT. A little off-topic......Is that a home made archery target the board is laying on? If so, what is it made of? I want to make one for a X-bow and the commercial ones for x-bows are WAYYYY to expensive!

It appears with the soft jacket of the be, you are seeing the lands and grooves of you rifling.

Scott............can you get your fingernail into the grove or is it more of a scrape on the side of the bullet? If in fact these bullets are getting fully engraved, then it would seem full forming is a waste of time? No? I am going to try to capture a bullet at 300 tomorrow. I have a long box stuffed with rags. Hopefully there is enough to either catch or seriously slow down the bullet to be able to recover it in tact! I am thinking I will shot it a 300 Pittman.

Richard they are fully engraved not just a scratch. The MH however is only a scratch. The AccuMax is also engraved.

I think what we are seeing is engraving with some bullets depending on probably the softness of the jacket and also due to the load pushing it? Obviously a hot boosted load under a thin/soft jacket will probably produce more/deeper engraving? I would also think that smaller bullets that need to be knurled will also show more evidence of engraving due to the less dense engraved surface. I have played with that full forming and it never showed me any increased accuracy so maybe I was grossly mistaken and in fact more engraving is taking place that I had given credit? Thanks for those tests! BTW Scott..........the new truck has NAV!............Recalculate, recalculate!!!!!
