I tested the 275 MH with my Rem 700 ML with 1:22 twist .45 McGowen barrel using 95 grains by weight of BH209.
Fed. 209a primer .060 Veggie wad No sizing just pack to bore MV about 2400 fps
100 yards Jugs are 13.5" long and filled with water
The bullet went through both jugs and hit the road sign laying on the ground behind the second jug.
I have seen the no expansion of the MH in a couple other threads. Maybe this BH209 load is a little to slow for the jacket thickness of the MH???

Someone with better calculatin' skills than me could get fps spot on at range, BUT........even at 2800fps from a smokeless load, one wonders at what range the 2800fps load would be the same as your 2400fps load at 100 yards?? Just guessing but seems that at 300-350yds, the smokeless load wouldn't open the 275MH up any more..??

I don't know the answer Danno but probably the reason why Parker recommends shoulder shots with the MH.

I have killed 3 does with the 275MH. Longest was 255yd hard angled. All deer were DRT. No problem with expansion started at 2800fps. Loads were 70gr N120, 70gr H4198, and 10/60 sr4759/h4198. I have since went to the 300sst. Killed at 242 & 385yd last season. Still good expansion on the long shot.
