Just bought the Jr and started looking for recipes. The unit cane with around 6 recipes and said there are more on their website. I looked but it's all for the original can and worried it will be too much seasoning.
Does anyone use the can cooker jr and what/where do you find recipes??

Oh, thanks! Now that I am nearly retired and have to cut down on expenditures, ya got me wanting one of these! When cutting down ingredients in a recipe, ya jest need to do sum calculatin'/figurin'. If ya have a pound of meat while the recipe calls for two pounds, just cut spice ingredients in half, or whatever fraction ya need for a recipe. We know ya have to be good at figurin', after what you've done to your house! P.S. Where did you get yours? Did it come with a rack?

Bought mine off Amazon for $46 and change. No it didn't come with a rack thinking about ordering it though. My wife is not a big fan of smoked food so thought this would be a good alternative.
Thanks for the compliment on the house. I usually do lots of research and then start figuring it out as I go. 😃

I got a Jr. about a month ago and didn't know rack was not included. Got a rack now. Haven't tried it yet. Watching this thread with interest. I'm thinking fresh corn, shrimp and new potatoes be my 1st try. 10

Bought mine off Amazon for $46 and change. No it didn't come with a rack thinking about ordering it though. My wife is not a big fan of smoked food so thought this would be a good alternative. Saw that one, too, and was disappointed they do not sell a rack with it, or even separately. One of my sons has been making pulled pork. The process starts out by smoking for a few hours, then into the oven until it can easily be pulled apart with a couple forks. My thinking the steaming process in the Can Cooker just MAY make pork roast even more tender after smoking. After total tooth removal a couple months ago, and now having "temporary" dentures, not much meat is possible unless it is very tender. P.S.Leave it up to Wally World, they have Jr & rack for $53.71 with free shipping. www.walmart.com/ip/Can-Cooker-Junior/27159271

Aluminum ...avoid tomato products or anything high in acid. ^^^^^^^ +1! A lot of horror stories out there on the effects aluminum has in the body.

Finally used the can today. I put a cut up red onion on the bottom, sweet corn, green pepper, red potato, shrimp, and brats in the can with 2 cups of water (probably only needed one cup). A stick of butter and garlic salt. It was pretty good but needed more seasoning. Cooked around 45 minutes on 4 on the stove (almost medium heat).

Today was 8 chicken breast in a cup of vinegar. I cooked it 30 minutes probably should have looked at it around 15 minutes but the wife liked it so that's good. Figured it would be barbeque sandwiches that did turn out good but probably over cooked. Still learning.

This thing cooks great. Didn't try anything too exotic first time. Started out by grilling and smokin' pork steaks until just about done. Put plenty of water in it but not so much that it would overflow over the rack. Placed carrots in first, then a bunch of garden fresh green beans, a sliced onion, peppers, and the meat on top. Worst thing about it was the wait because it filled the whole house with the aroma of hickory smoked meat! The water turned into a delicious broth.
Thanks RR, for the "heads up" on a great cooker!!

That's awesome!! I tried a pork butt in it Monday night and it turned out pretty good but I was a little disappointed. Think next time I'll fill the bottom with vegetables to help with moisture and keeping meat off bottom. Love the can cooker!!

The can cooker is no new great invention, Farmers and cowboys used to use the old metal milk cans to cook meals the same way. Not trying to spoil anyone's fun but I dont think it can do anything a crockpot or pressure cooker cant do.
