We cleaned and cooked up Little Lukes catfish from the fishing forum. It is now gone in three days of lunch for us. Turned out pretty dang good in a Shore Lunch batter. Glad to have a family that likes eating what we harvest.

That really looks yummy!
Around here about this time of year after the water has warmed up, channels and blues start tasting like the mud from the bottom of a pond. Do you have such a problem, and what do you do to get that taste out? Flat heads are delicious all year and some say that is due to them eating only live food while the others will eat any rotten garbage that comes along.

This was a pond cat, eating bluegills and fish food. We dont catch cats all that often, but have never had a problem with what you say when we do. I wouldn't eat a big cat from a river around here. Lake Michigan and its tributaries are all on alert in our fish reg book regarding consumption amounts. I have noticed crappies get mushy after their spawn.

Looks like good eating.... I caught quite a few catfish back in the spring and we are still eating on them. We try to have fish that we caught once a week. Nothing better than eating your own catch.
If I have time this fall I want to try to catch a few more so we have fish through the winter.
