Weather today was a mix of sun and clouds with some wind early on with temperatures in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s. Rem. Brux .45 with 209 ignition. Started the day fouling the barrel with three shots in group #1 Next in preparation for a large group using the 250 SST smooth sized with NO wad I fired my first shot, made an adjustment and then fired the second shot at 2902 fps which hit dead on. In lieu of firing the traditional type groups, I decided to fire something similar to a score match where a single shot is fired at separate bullseyes. The target used is a IBS .22 rimfire 50 yd. benchrest score target. The very center ring is .250” and the part inside the black rings measures 1.165” . The load used is the 250 gr. SST Midway Blem and the object was to fire 15 shots………..one at each bull. Since my last sighter shot was the same bullet and load (6/65.8—Clays/H-4198) I included it along with the 15 remaining shots and numbered it as #1. What I found was interesting here was that the two shots more or less out of the group are on targets #2 and #10. Both low in velocity as compared to the 14 other shots. This is clearly illustrated when looking at the individual shots. As close as I could measure, the 16 shot group was 1.450” with an average velocity of 2882 and a 66 fps ES. By eliminating shots 2 and 10, the average velocity of 14 shots was 2888 with an ES of 35. The best 4 (in a row) group was .970” and the best five in a row was .600”. Mind you, this was not some custom bullet, just a run of mill SST. From this large a sample, is safe to say that when a velocity reading is some 40 or so fps slower than the others, it is going out of the group (in all probability?) Moving out to 300 yards with the 300 Pittman…….adding 3 ¾ MOA (the same as last week) with the same load (6/65.8) and the same scope setting, POI was some 4” higher? The last group was again with the same load and scope setting and it printed 5” above my POA (in both cases, the round bull below the square) Accuracy was somewhat less than last week but two more shots were added and there was a wind factor this week. Next week I may do the same 15 shot score target with the 300 SST. I think it gives a clearer picture of where the shot hits in relation to its velocity.

Yes very interesting and I like the individual target instead of all shot at the same one. Great report as always Richard.

Those Blems are dang good shooting bullets considering the price. Really enjoys reading the results of your test.

Great shooting as usual Richard. By my calculations all those tiny little targets would equal out to " Head Shots" on the average Gopher. On what makes a blem: I have over 1500 assorted ML bullets from the Hornaday line. Only ones you could ever tell anything wrong with were a batch of 500 .40 cal 200gn XTP's that appeared to have molten lead spilled on them ant attached itself to the jacket. Not much but some. A few hours through the tumbler and they were as near perfect as anyone could tell. Drop

Was the wind blowing right to left?? You either hit dead center or to the left.?.? Usually if your a right handed shooter the "off" shot tends to be to the right and vice versa with a left handed. Knowing that your a right handed shooter leads me to believe your shots were "thrown" off due to wind and a low BC bullet. Just my speculation. Great report always gives you something to think about!!

interesting testing, some day I might get to poke a hole? Yes blems are usually just slight cosmetic stuff. I have a friend that has a friend at Sierra that we get CF bullets from, I got 700 .223 65 grn spire pt bt last year buying them buy the pound, the lead nibs were still attached on some which were easy to get off and they shoot great. Richard needs to keep pullin the trigger between now and August to give Blakely a go, the rest of us will just show up and eat..

Never mind Bill we have a lot of good shooters at this event. I have been there twice and not won the whole ball of wax?...........That means there are always better shooters. Sometimes its just the luck of the draw? Eric, Hahn, Deadeye, yourself, Kyle, Hank and a number of others are always in the hunt. Sometimes it is just pure luck! Everyone who responded Doug, got it right! I only call them blems because that is how they are listed. Usually nothing wrong with them..........but never the less, just a "generic" bullet. Not a custom as some other multi-shot group was shot with. I have to save my Pittman's for the big "money shoot!" Oh, BTW, if you look at shot #4 on the 300 yard 300 gr. AccuMax group you will notice the velocity is only 1931 fps? I saw the bullet hit in the dirt below the target.............looked at the chronograph and said..........Sombitch? What caused that?.........Oh well............then I went to load another shot and pulled the two (duplex) vial out of the case and happened to notice the main charge vial was only half full? 65.8 gr. generally fills it up to the cap. Hmmmmm? So now I look at the next on in line and the same thing. Scratched my head a little and then the light came on! I always load five vial at a time from my Harrell's measure. This measure will only drop up to 62 gr. in one shot. Since I was shooting 65.8 gr. I set the measure to drop 32.9 gr. and drop two charges in the vial. For whatever reason I only dropped one shot in each of five vial. My next row was fine. Just goes to show you, attention must be paid. I could have been shooting for $100 against Deadeye and would have lost my shirt!!!!!! ..........Probably would have lost it anyway with that new shootin' iron he has Chad............I probably should have not clicked as far left as I did. There was a little breeze but I don't think it was too bad at 100 yards. I think at 300 I might have gotten caught but you never know?

Just sat down long enough to to read you Tuesday report and I must say its pretty interesting.. I believe you have more experience behind a SPML than any one else I can think of...... I hope to get in just a few practice shots before the challenge but if not,, that's ok to... Someone will need to be cooking that pig/hog that we will be feasting on... Deadeye will be busy loading his new nickle girl.... I hope you give him a run for his money......
Also,, I am working on a new shooting stick for myself,, hope to have it ready for the challenge ...
