What would you all think of running a mcgowen 425 barrel? Specs show groove measurement is .425 and land measurement is .416. Could you run .416 bullets smooth sized in that set up or am i misunderstanding how smooth forming is supposed to work? Supposed to be sized to the lands right? From what i gather, the monolithics dont perforn well unless full form sized to bore, but something like the rocky mtn bullets might obturate ok in something like that? Curious if anyone shooting .416 slugs has tried that to get aroung full forming...

May be splitting hairs over the .416 thing but i see the higher bc on those and cant help but think more energy on target as a good thing when it comes to elk. Those rocky mtns at around .6 bc arent gonna bleed speed or energy as fast if I could figure it out.

I would be a little concerned about the available 416 bullet construction and max fps you can achieve with BH209. Most of those bullet are built pretty tough.
