Had septoplasty 2 times, once in about 1972 and again about 1980.Had a butcher for a surgeon and he caused more harm than good.Had the turbinate, which I believe is a procedure which corrects the sinuses, and septoplasty again in 2008.This last one fixed me up and I can now breath through my nose. Guess if I wasn't so bone headed and lived a better lifestyle way back when,I wouldn't have had to deal with all of it. I'm sure yours will turn out good and be worth the discomfort.best wishes. Glad to hear yours is finally fixed right Dennis, I know it makes a world of difference.
Yeah, I can relate, my old lifestyle is exactly why I had to have mine done as well, LOL!
When I was a young Sailor some 40 plus yrs. ago, 2 pretty good sized Samoan's approached me in a Bar in Maui, Hawaii (they didn't exactly like White boys). They said if I didn't get out of their bar, stop drinking their Liquor & stop messing with their women then they were going to whoop my azz.
Well, my friend Jack (Jack Daniels), that was with me that night told me to tell those 2 big ole Samoan's that, not only were they not big enough, but there wasn't enough of them there to whoop my azz (all 150 soaking wet pounds of it at the time).
Jack Daniels lied to me that night
Haven't been friends with ole Jack ever since!

Continuing to feel better Charlie, but still sore as to be expected.
I did rinse my nose out with a Neilmed Sinus rinse Bottle today (basically a douche for your nose).
Something that resembled a miniature Dinosaur Egg came flying out of my nostril when I did that, but it felt good.
Not quite sure what it was, but suspect in may have been a piece of dissolvable packing that was still in there.
So things are going as planned.
Appreciate your asking.
Thanks,
YB

Charlie,
Doc wants me to rinse 2-3 x daily until I go back in 4 weeks.
Here is what you use for it shop.neilmed.com/Sinus-Rinse-Extra-Large-Bottle-Kit-16-oz-thumb_2.png, with packets of Sodium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate dissolved in warm Distilled water.
Many people who suffer from complications due to Sinus infections and Allergies swear by these things.

Doing well Charlie, Thank You!
I actually had somewhat of an epiphany of my Olfactory Senses today. When I let my dogs out in the yard to do their business this A.M., I immediately started smelling all these strange smells I hadn't noticed before, like different kinds of flowers and foliage, etc... and it was REALLY strong smelling. Been like that all day.
After I brushed my teeth this A.M. it smelled like someone was squeezing toothpaste up my nose for the next 3 hrs.
I'm not exactly sure what is causing my new Bloodhound like symptoms, but probably a combination of things.
Now, if I could only get these old eyes to see as good as my nose is smelling, I would be able to load up the truck with deer every time I hit the woods

I'm so happy that everything is shaping up for you in such a short time, so happy you had a good surgeon, with your new senses you will be able sniff out the big bucks, and fill up that truck every time out..

I'm still hanging in there guys, thanks for asking!
I'm self-employed and was about 3 weeks behind with work because of the surgery and have been playing catch-up, so I haven't been on here much lately.
Nose is doing good. Still pretty tender if I push on it but that is normal. And for the last few days I've had a rotten egg smell in my nose, Doc says it is normal due to some decaying blood and dissolvable packing still in my sinus cavity, and it should go away soon. I go back to him in a week for my second post op visit and he will suction my nose out and get rid of a lot of goop that is still there ... yeah!!!
Hope everyone else is doing well.
