I was wondering if anyone has had these surgeries, and if so what your experience might have been.
I had them done this past Monday as an Outpatient procedure. I haven't really had a lot of pain, but some significant discomfort. They had some medical Tampons packed in my nostril's for the first 2 days that caused most of the discomfort (pressure), but once they were removed the pain was very tolerable and I didn't need any more pain meds.
I've still got some splints in that will be removed Tuesday, they are uncomfortable and annoying but thankfully not painful. Still can't taste, smell, or breathe that well right now but Doc says that is normal due to all the goop & chit discharging from my nose.
Doc said my left nostril was 90% obstructed and the right side wasn't that much better, so this should make a world of difference in my breathing and sleeping once it is all healed and the swelling subsides.
Sorry for all the rambling on, just getting bored sitting around the house.

I haven't had any of those surgeries but I am on the list for one that I am putting off as long as I can. I hope you get well soon and back to normal......

Thanks Jeff. I was able to taste and smell my food a little when I ate tonight, so that was encouraging.
Not sure what type of surgery you are putting off but just remember, the older you get the tougher the recovery process usually is.
Need to get my back done again too, had surgery 15 yrs. ago and it never has been right since.
Good luck with your issue, hope you can get it fixed soon.

I'll say a prayer for ya. That cutting and slicing is kinda tedious. I had just a MRI about a month ago and all well until they shot the dye into my arm vein, 10 minutes to go on a 55 minute procedure and I'm having a reaction to the dye!!! Well I held all still and just projectile vomited all over that ding dong ringing clicking loud machine. The MRI was good so didn't have a do over. I knew when they said only clear liquids for 6 hours before MRI that there was a chance of "chit happenin". Well it did. BUT compared to a prostate punch 20 holes you know where biopsy I'll do the puke in a machine any time. Getting old can be hard but I'm still walking on the grass instead of pushing it up. Best to all. 10

Yes my sense of smell & taste are starting to come back which is good. It's always in the back of your mind that that may not happen. I can't imagine going through life like that, but there are certainly people dealing with issues much worse than that.
Feeling Blessed and grateful!

Thanks Charlie,
I'm feeling a little better today but still have some splints up my nose that are pretty uncomfortable. But I do go back to see my DR. in the A.M. and hopefully he will remove those, which should be a nice relief.

Appreciate it Charlie,
The doc did take the splints out today. I'm sure glad I was in LA-LA Land when he put them in ... those suckers weren't exactly small!
I'm feeling pretty good now, just a little sore still but not too bad.
Just have to take it kind of easy for another week or so and keep everything clean, and I should be fine.
Don't have to see Doc again for 4 weeks.
Thanks,
YB

Had septoplasty 2 times, once in about 1972 and again about 1980.Had a butcher for a surgeon and he caused more harm than good.Had the turbinate, which I believe is a procedure which corrects the sinuses, and septoplasty again in 2008.This last one fixed me up and I can now breath through my nose.Guess if I wasn't so bone headed and lived a better lifestyle way back when,I wouldn't have had to deal with all of it. I'm sure yours will turn out good and be worth the discomfort.best wishes.
