45 Colt Cowboy Loads

My co-worker got into cowboy shoots and is trying to reduce his loads for low recoil. He's shooting 45 colt with 180 grain bullets with 4.7 grains of unique and it's pushing the primer back out of the primer pocket. Why would the primer be pushed out??
