linkGuys, I am nearing completion of my 50 BMZ project and wanted to share some pix with you. Unfortunately for me I am apparently too ignornant to understand photobucket and the photo adding section was of no help. I instead opened my privacy up on the folder and attempted to link the entire folder here. I am not certain it will work and if it does there are pictures of other muzzleloader projects and a few misc. as well. Provided the link works I will fill you all in on the details and answer any questions as I find time. I'm crossing my fingers hoping this link will work.

Unfortunately this build is far from finished but I am getting closer. I need a different scope and mounts, new pad, bead blasting and some load development. I also need money! (Lol) I made my own bullet mold which leaves a lot to be desired but a replacement mold is in route as we speak.
I am trying to make this gun a dedicated paper patch shooter. The paper patch is a new one for me but I am pretty excited about it, at present anyway. If the paper patch idea fails I will be building a ff die and switching over to jacketed bullets but I "think" I can get the PP to work. At present I am working with 600gr bullets even though many of the bullet pictures are of 730gr bullets. I ended up milling that mold off to get back to 600gr. The new mold is going to be about 600gr as well and should be a little sleeker bullet. I am hoping to get up in the mid .6 for BC but time and testing will tell. It needs to get accurate first.
I tried Hybrid 100V which should have been ideal but it fell through my .035 vent liner. Very surprising to me actually but it fell through with some significant regularity. I am currently running 120gr of IMR4350 and have obtained 2,400 fps at what I think will be upper 40K for pressures. I plan to shoot some RL17 and RL19 this weekend and am happy with the 2,400 figure but think I can hit 2,500 and still be under or at the 50K mark. So far there has been -0- ignition issues and I don't forsee any either.
Apparently my brake is working because as Riverrat stated I took it off for a shot and it was pretty brutal. Right now the gun weighs in at 16# 1.4oz but I plan to install a set of steel rings and about 6-8 more ounces of scope. Extra weight will be a good thing in this case. For now I would say recoil is similar to a 1.25oz 12ga hunting load but I should have a betfer feel for it by the end of the weekend. I do plan to remove the brake for a few more shots over the weekend just for chits n grins but I can't imagine shooting it without the brake as a regular thing.

Is this gun the one with the small diameter chamber..? How is it working for you...?

Lazr,
It does have a small chamber by design but not as once intended. To get the bushings in there needed to be a 3/8" hole for install so there is a 3/8 dia by about 1.25 deep recess in the plug. There is no chamber in the barrel either, just a straight .510 tube. So far it has lit IMR4350, Hybrid 100V, Rl17 and Rl19 without issues. It is my thought that it will probably light anything that a typical Fed 215 will ignite.
