Yesterday, a great friend of mine from way back came out for a visit and his main goal was to shoot a bunch of ammo. He doesn't get much time to do things like this with his family and work (and his wife hates guns!)
Anyhow, grabbed a few hundred rounds of 9mm, .38 Spec and .22 LR and headed to the "backwwods" range of the club I belong to. Good time had by all and both our index fingers had cramps in them last night!. LOL.
I always pick up brass when I can. If it's brass I do not have a gun for I usually leave it. However, There was a pile of .40 and .45 brass back there from someone who obviously doesn't reload. I picked up a few boxes worth of each and added them into the tumbler with the spoils of our afternoon of shooting. BAD IDEA!!! All the .40 cases got stuck in the .45's and the 9mm's got stuck in the .40's. Using a pair of channel locks and some needle nose pliers, I got em all separated. In every case, the smaller case had a deformed mouth now. I think resizing will fix everything.
As I accumulate brass for other guns that I don't have, it makes me want to get a gun that will use them. I am thinking of a Ruger SR45. Will feel just like the SR9 but put a very big bullet out of the tube.
It always makes me feel good when I can take a friend out and watch them burn thru lots of ammo. This guy got his permit about 15 years ago and was all pumped to get a pistol and then met his gun hating wife!! Love her too but she has quelled his jets.
Highlites of the day? 10 for 10 on hitting 12 ga empty shells with the 9mm at 20 ft. LOL.
