I found one new CVA Apex Black stock and stainless steel, still in the box. If anyone is interested in it let me know and I can get it for you.

Jeff,
I know Rich (rlp10ml) was looking for one back in Dec. but couldn't find one, not sure if he's still looking for one though.
I sent him a PM with a link to this thread incase he still wants one.

The new CVA Scout V2 45/70 with the removable muzzle brake should be our very soon. $200 less than an Apex MSRP too.

I'm not sure if the new CVA Scout V2 45/70 will have the same barrel profile / contour as the previous model, but when I was looking for a gun to convert this past winter this was one I considered. Some of the guys doing the work on the conversions said these barrels are not as "Beefy" in the chamber area as the Apex barrels and they wouldn't recommend one for a conversion.
I had talked with Slufoot while I was researching options for my conversion, prior to deciding to go with Jeff's system, and he said he had done a conversion on 1 Scout V2 and would not do another one because he didn't feel there was enough meat in the chamber area.
With that being said, I know I've read a couple of posts in the past from folks using the Scout conversions, don't really recall the specifics though.

I had slufoot convert an encore barrel one time that was not real beefy so if he is saying he wouldnt do it, i wouldnt be doing it personally. But thats just me.

I would like to see the size comparisons vs an Apex. Carlos mentioned them becoming available soon. Im tempted to get one just for a heavy conical shooter using subs. Fast twist 45cal MLs are getting harder and harder to find and none i can find are as light weight as the Scout V2. That muzzle brake might come in handy when chucking some 400gr+ conicals.

I'm not sure if Jeff has ever converted a Scout V2, but you may want to ask him for some input.
It sounds like the Scout V2 would be the Bee's Knee's for what you're looking to do with it, providing it could handle the loads.
But someone more knowledgeable than me would have to weigh in on that.
