I like to look for sheds. A bit early this year but the weather was quite mild and a friend said he found some when testing tanks at the Lima Tank Plant facility on the test track.
My neighbor said he said three bucks on my property in the last several days that still had their antlers on so I did not have too much hope. Found no antlers but 3 dead deer remains. One with one antler broken off, could have been hit by a car and then died in the field. The sole antler was a 4 point, a smaller but quite uniform 10 point and a skull from I would guess 2014 that had the antlers nearly chewed up/off. I would say once a small 8 point.
These were not shot by my family as I was with them the whole time and no lost deer. How they died I will never know, just hat to think that these bucks in a few years would have been much better and only ended up as coyote food in the end.
Will look later until the foliage gets too tall. Could burn off the CRP but I do not think I will do that this year, it got a little out of control last year but did find some sheds.
As I approach 70 after 5 hours of searching/climbing etc. the hills seem to get a bit taller and steeper.

After I got thinking about it two neighbors said they hit 4 bucks with arrows and never were able to recover them. Perhaps I have an elephant graveyard type location. Actually with all the prairie grass, CRP, bog etc. I could see why they would filter in. I/we saw over 100 deer there this season in part of 6 days.

Update: I found another dead 10 point today. Also a broken antler I found in Oct 2015 exactly fit on the single broken antler buck I found. The two were separated by about 1500 feet. Not the way I wanted to find antlers for sure.
