The Spring shoot will be scheduled for April 19th, 20th and 21st.
The range will open at 1:00 pm on Friday for anyone that wants to practice. Practice will be closed at exactly 5:00 pm.
We will be adding a 22 LR match for Friday evening. The 22 LR match will start at 5:30 PM and run until it is finished. Anyone wanting to bring a 22 LR to this year’s Kentucky Challenge please do so. Rules and regulations will be worked out between now and the time of the shoot, so if you’re interested or have any suggestions for the 22 LR match, please let me know.
The range will open at exactly 8:00 am Saturday morning for practice and warm up before the match, anyone needing practice shots, please arrive early and be ready to start shooting at 8:00 am. The practice session will stop at 9 am.
The Muzzle Loaded match will start at exactly 9:30 am on Saturday morning. There will be unlimited sighter shots for this match, however you must have your three (3) scoring shots fired before the 10-minute time limit is reached.
There will be three (3) scored shots at each distance of 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. No electronic devices will be allowed on the shooting bench during the match. Anyone wanting to bring and use wind flags may do so.
There will be a breakfast on Saturday morning as usual, we will eat at 8:00 am. There will not be a lunch planned for Saturday, anyone wanting to bring food for snacking or for lunch can do so. If you would like to list what you are bringing in this thread, that would be nice so everyone can know what’s on the table and what they may want to bring and add to it.
The cost to attend the Kentucky Challenge this year will be $40.00 for everyone. That money goes to the range for maintenance and up-grades. The 22LR match will have a cost, which we do not know yet, but a portion of the cost will also go to the house for supplying the targets and range.
The cost for shooting the muzzle loader match will be $25.00. $20.00 of this will go into the pot to give away to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, the other $5.00 will go to the range for supplying the targets.
We are planning a new type of match this year after the Kentucky Challenge match is over. This match will be called the "KYL" (KNOW YOUR LIMITS). It will be a gong match shot at 200, 300 and 400 yards. This match will consist of 10 shots, (no sighter shots). There will be one gone at 200 yards, (size is undetermined at this time) you must hit this gong to proceed to 300 yards, or you can decide to shoot all 10 shots at that gong for hits and score, once you move forward to the 300 yard gong (size is undetermined at this time) you cannot go back to the 200 yard gong, If you decide to move to the 300 yard gong you must hit it in order to proceed to the 400 yard gongs, or you can decide to shoot the rest of your shots at the 300 yard gong for hits and score, once you move to the 400 yard gongs you cannot go back to the 300 yard gong. At 400 yards there will be 5 gongs, on 12" one 10" one 8" one 6" and one 4" Each confirmed hit on the gong will score points, the smaller the gong the more points it will be worth. We do not have all the details figured out yet, but we will be doing a test run for this at the Polar Bear shoot, so anyone wanting to come to the Polar Bear shoot, please do so. This Gong match will have a cost to be determined.
I think this will be a fun match to shoot so everyone should bring a few extra bullets and be prepared for this. This gong shoot should go quick, as you will be shooting all 10 of your shots without getting up from your shooting bench.
Let’s use this thread to discuss any ideas or suggestions you guys have.
I will add to this thread and modify It as things change.
Please let me know if you are coming to the shoot and I will add your name to the list.
