Much like I did with centerfires a decade ago, I am slowly working my way to the perfect build for the hunting I do. I will be keeping a break action conversation [I've got 2 Hankins CVAs currently] for hiking/stalking and tree stands where the lighter weight and shorter OAL is helpful. But, I am now looking at a mid-weight build.
I currently have a Hankins custom w. #17 @28" and Manners thumbhole stock that will need a new home in this process. To no surprise it stacks tiny groups of 303gr HCs as fast as I want to shoot them and has comparatively very little recoil. It is amazing for sitting in a blind but not svelte enough to stalk with or maneuver quickly when ground hunting and rattling for bucks etc.
I am looking to build something w/ a Brux #6 around 25-26" and a lighter stock [28-30oz]. Rem700 or Mesa Prep. Summit action. Probably scoped w/ a Vortex HD LHT 3-15x42 or NF NXS.
I would love to see any pics or gather any wisdom from guys on here who have a similar setup!!
Thanks!

A Mesa action with Brux modified Sendero .45 @26”, Mesa Altitude stock or McMillan Game Scout, Redhawk BDL bottom metal, TriggerTech trigger, Mesa 20 MOA aluminum pic rail, Hanks 6 screw rings, Master Blaster brake, and Arken EPL-4 6-24 scope comes in at 9.8 pounds. Recoil is fairly tame with 92gr of Benchmark and 300 Aeromax @2950-3000 fps. Accuracy is on par with the heavier builds, ragged hole groups at 200 yards. You might save a few ounces with a #6 contour.

Thanks! That’s quite helpful and makes me think I’ll come in around 9-10lbs scoped which sounds great. I’m starting to assemble some parts!
