New to the forum and SML, but I am a long time shooter/hunter/black rifle builder. So I wanted to share why in ended up using a chassis. So I purchased a 45 cal barreled action then ordered a Manners MCH-LRH stock and waited 7.5 months for delivery. It has an Outcast action/#17 brux barrel 26”/Fat Bastard Brk/Hanks HIS. Well it was too light causing the rifle to be very unbalanced and I just didn't like the feel. So I decided to try a chassis and put it in an XLR. Element 4.0 Aluminum Chassis. It’s heavy but the balance is perfect now and it is very comfortable to shoot. It shoots Aeromax 303 hard core very accurate with 73gn of IMR4198 and 91/92 gn. of Benchmark. I am heading to Iowa on a late season hunt and I am a little concerned about the differece in temp and humidity. Being in South Louisiana, temps and humidity is high compared to Iowa in late Dec. Which powder will handle the change in temp and humidity better? Thanks for all the great info! Attachments:

Best thing to do is to come a day or two early, and locate a place here in which you can test your loads in our temps/humidity.

Benchmark will likely be less temp sensitive than 4198 but I would test when you get there to make sure.

Welcome to the forum. That's a sick looking muzzleloader. How long do you spend convincing people it's a muzzleloader when they first see it? Anyway earlier this year a member had questions about velocities this was my response. I updated some info to cover my experience with this load over the last two hunting seasons.I think it might help you as well.
I shoot 88gn of RL 10x with the 303HC and get an average of 2966fps in 55*F. This load does well and maintains consistent velocity across the temperatures I hunt in VA. The first week of muzzleloader season the last two years it was pushing 80*F. Then the last week it's ranged from highs in the 30's to 50's*F most days. While this was an extreme situation for early November I was covered. The stability of 10x allowed me take a deer with this load at 500 yds last year and 400yds this year.
I shoot a M700 with 1.25"x5" shank, HIS, 26" Brux and muzzle brake. This is a max load for my gun and may not be safe in yours. Start low and work your way up.

The chassis look is not for everyone. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I would like it, but the balance of a 26” #17 Brux barreled action in it wins 100%. I have a 5 lbs jug of 10x that should be delivered tomorrow. Planning on starting at 83 and work up to 88. Accuracy wins over speed for me. We shall see. Thanks for sharing!

Any pressure readings with the Benchmark? Id like to try it in my Scout Conversion but not sure what a max load is. I'd be using 240/250 grain bullets most likely.

I’m very close to placing an order for this chassis 15-20 week wait now. It will be for a short action centerfire. You also said it was heavy - the specs show it’s really light at 2 lbs with pivot and rear stock. Is that incorrect ? I like your setup.

[ Benchmark is too slow for that weight bullet, it would likely go bang but is far from optimal Stick with a proven faster burning powder

The Magnesium Chassis with carbon stock and grip is much lighter. Not sure what one you are referencing, but here is what I purchased. Element 4.0 Aluminum chassis = 22 oz C-6 Buttstock = 24 oz Folding Adapter = 4.9 oz ERGO Tactical Grip = 4.5 oz Total 55.4 oz or 3.46 lbs. I may order the bad rider, but it works fine with the Triad tapered rear bag.
