I shot another IR 50/50 unlimited match at Mountain State Sportsmen Association in Parkersburg, WVA on Tuesday evening. We had 19 shooters in attendance. With only one match to go before the seasons come to a close. I ended up on the second relay on bench 3. The wind was decent most of the night. I watched the first relay shoot and I picked out 3 wind conditions that it mainly was blowing. A head wind, 10 o’clock and some times from left to right. I decided to mainly shot in the head wind but sometimes I would shoot the 10 o'clock wind. We shoot 3 cards, each card is worth a 250 points with 25 bullseye for a total of 750 and 75 x’s. My first first relay I shot a 750 with 17 x’s. The second relay I dropped a point on target #1 for a 749 and 11 x’s. My last card I shot a 750 with 16 x’s. I ended up a 749 and 44 x’s for the night. Super happy because it’s the highest x count I’ve ever shot. So close to a 750 but another swing and a miss for the perfect 3 clean cards for a 750. So close….. I ended up in 5th place for the night. I was shooting over flags on bench 3. Bench 1 and 2 had no wind flags. Lots of flags to my right that I never looked at because the wind was always blowing in my face or from the left. The guy that got 1st place was shooting on bench 1 with no flags. Go figure! Talk about a good shooting gun with the right ammo that was tuned for his gun. Wow I’ve said in the past that this group is some stiff competition. Check out the score just in the top 12.

haha, Mark, you had 750 on the brain, 250, 249 and 250 with all the x's is doing some dang good shooting. Most people and a lot of shooters don't know how difficult it is to shoot 22lr accurately, especially since the quality of ammo is critical. One can be the best trigger puller and wind caller in the world, but without spending the time to learn which ammo lot shoots best in their gun, match accuracy won't be obtained. Maybe the last match of the year will get you your goal. Good luck.

I sure did. To look at it on the bright side, I shot 49 good targets after a miss.
I’ve have a goal to achieve and I sure would like it to be this season. I need to head to the range for some practice time to work on my goal.

Your shooting good Mark. At this rate your sure to hit that 750. I did some more 200 yard shooting this past week and sure enough, those shots that were a little slower or faster than the average, were either high or low in the group. I shot all ten shot groups. By and large eight of the shots would group around 1.3" with the other two (or three) opening the group to 3"--all vertical.

That's impressive, I know you are shooting against some heavy hitters.

What’s kind of groups would you getting at 50 yards in the same conditions?

I shot some last Tuesday. One ten shot group went in the .3's. Several of the five shot groups in the low .2's and one at .198". And this, with a different lot of Eley Match. Not my best lot that I am hoarding. On Saturday one of the guys set up a Kill the Candy Corns shoot. No scores, just for fun. We lined up two rows each of 24 candy corns stuck on tooth picks at 50 yards. We had six shooters on the line. Three for each row of 24. Starting on the left each shooter would shoot at the first corn. If he hit it, the next shooter would shot at the second corn. If you only broke off a piece of the corn, the next shooter had to shoot at the smaller piece. Which ever group of (3) shooters finished off all the corns became the team winner. Actually, it was like shooting ducks in a pond. But for some of the members it was challenging with their level of skill and equipment. Oh, we were using bipods. No fancy front rests. I shot two relays and never missed a corn or a piece of a corn.
