Another IR 50/50 unlimited match was held at Mountain State Sportsmen Association in Parkersburg, WVA on Tuesday evening. It started out a nice warm 67 degrees but the temperatures quickly dropped to 59 degrees with a chill in the air. The match started at 6pm with 2 full relays we finished up at 9:15pm. It was definitely sweat shirt weather. With 20 shooter I ended up on the second relay on bench 5. Lights are always a factor when shooting at night. Some rows I could see the bullseye and the next row you couldn’t see the bullseye and was just holding were you thought you should. We shoot 3 cards, each card is worth a 250 points with 25 bullseye for a total of 750 and 75 x’s. My first relay I shot a 250 with 18 x’s. Second relay I shot a 250 with 10 x’s and the third relay I dropped 2 points in the same row and ended a 248 with 15 x’s for a total of 748 with 43 x’s. After the score are tallied I end up in 10th place. 1st place shot a 750 with 62 x’s, 2nd and 3rd place both shot 750 with 50 x’s. As I said said in the subject line that it was stiff competition, come to find out that the 1st and 7th ranked shooter in IR 50/50 was there. The guy that won 1st place was on bench #2 with the guys on bench #1 and #3 shot the lowest score. It’s all about reading the wind and the nut behind the scope driving the gun. When I drop 2 points on the same row I missed seeing my 4th flag that was turned from straight to 3 o’clock (-1) then back to straight (x’s) then it turned to 9 o’clock (-1) which showed on the targets. Lots of fun and still learning.

Still good shooting Mark! Well, I finally got to the range for the first time since I got sick. If you recall, I had four lots of Eley match I had been wanting to lot test. That's about 6 weeks ago. I never figured there would be any ammo left at Killough's by now. Anyway, I proceeded to lot test the four "lots" I had. Well, low and behold I had 3 out of four that shot really well (at 50 yards). ES ont three of the lots averaged 16 fps. I shot two ten shot groups with each lot. Ten shot groups averaged under .3". This was outside with only one wind flag. Had to have one eye on the flag on one on the target. Fortunately, Kellough had some of the lot that shot well do I was able to order what I needed.

Just curious...on your 2nd target, bull #15...How the F did you get a 10? ? What kind of "P" did they score that with? Inquiring minds want to know?

I’m glad you final got to test your ammo. I can’t believe they actually still had some in stock. Congratulations on finding 3 lots of good shooting ammo and getting out of the hospital.
Now as far as card 2, target 15 goes, I’m not the judge nor will I argue with the guy who’s judging the cards but I have no idea where it came from or why. Maybe the plug they used was in my favor for a change.
I have 3 more matches before my season is over with for the year. Hopefully I can clean all 3 cards for a score of 750.
Glad your better!

From the way you are shooting I am sure you will! I think the guy who was using that plug must have had a few beers in him, actually quite a few.
