I received my new shipment of Eley test lots today. I have 11 different lots with 9 posted speeds to test. Just checked the weather and my testing will start tonight at midnight. The good thing is they have at least 2 cases of each lot that I have as of when I bought it. Going to be a long night of testing……..

I’m all ready for testing. I have 11 cards laid out with the ammo ready to go. Cleaning station is setup for cleaning between every lot tested so the same procedure is done the same for every lot.

It took 5 hours to compete the lot testing of the 11 boxes of Eley ammo. I shot 2 different guns and ended up shooting a total of 20 different test sessions. Out of 11 test lots, 4 lots is worth buying. 1 lot shot extremely well and I will be buying every box they have in stock. Another lot shot well in both guns. Now it will come down to how much to buy? Hmmm

Looks like you're all ready to roll. Not very excited about this are you? LOL Not at all, but this is what it takes to shoot small groups with a 22. It’s all about the ammo! 5 hours shooting off of a wooden bench is no fun. It’s very hard to watch the conditions and look through the scope after about 3 hours. When I shoot off a soiled bench like a concrete bench I put the cross hairs on the bullseye and then I get off the gun and watch for the condition I want, then pull the trigger. I’m seen a concrete bench being installed before the next test session.

Be thankful you are able to shoot on your own property, Mark, makes this load testing process much more convenient for yourself. And heck yes, build yourself a cinder block shooting bench with cast concrete top. My load development activity requires loading everything into the truck, driving 40 minutes and setting it all up at the range. Thank goodness I'm retired and plan my range days for weekdays when the crowds are much reduced.

Mark, 5 hours on the bench would be a little rough... I can just imagine the splinters. Mike, I feel your pain. I have quite a drive to the places I can shoot.

I really don’t mind the drive because it’s so nice to be able to shoot out to 400 yards.

Well I have four lots. Probably some of them that you had listed I have not checked the boxes. However due to this blood pressure thing I have not been able to get the range so I'm probably going to be out of luck. If I am able to get there and test chances are the lot that you have that shoots good for you and shoots good for me you'll have bought it all. Have fun there'll always be another lot of ammo that comes in just that I've got eight boxes that's not going to do me any good.

Richard-
I bought 3 out of the 11 lots I tested. I did buy every box they had of the 3 lots and had it shipped to my shooting partner in WVA. I did have to pay shipping but it was still cheaper than me picking it up myself and paying 7.25% Ohio sales tax on it. WVA believes in not infringing on the right to keep and bear arms and does not charge sales tax on guns, powder, bullets and ammo. I’m keeping one lot for my self and my shooting partner will get first pick of what he wants and how much of the other two lots. I do have 2 more guns I will test with what I have setting on the shelve.
