My shooting partner and I have identical 22’s that are built with the same action, barrel, tuner, stock and used the same reamer for the chamber. I lot tested some ammo last week and he wanted to try it out at an Outlaw match on Friday night. We shoot 33 1/3 yards with no wind flags. Each card cost $2 and you get 5 spots to shoot at and we shoot a total of 10 cards. For $20 bucks you get some good clean fun with a chance to win some of your money back to help pay for your shooting and hopefully pay for your ammo too.

That's some good trigger pulling, Mark, how did you finish in the match? How does this same ammo shoot in your friend's "twin" gun? Is 1053 the fps of the ammo? I've bought some ridiculously expensive ammo (Lapua, Eley, SK, etc.) for my CZ and Kimber.22's and no matter what I do there are unexplained fliers in all the ammo I've tried. No way I can complete a match card without several fliers zooming off target. I don't compete so haven't gone to the extent of sending my gun to one of the ammo firm's technical centers for lot testing.
Last week I took my Kimber (squirrel gun) to the range with Winchester 333 (36 gr copper plated hollow-point high velocity) and Winchester Wildcat (40 gr lead high velocity) ammo. Lots of fliers in both of these very cheap ammo varieties. The Wildcat shot a good margin better (less fliers, more accurate and faster velocity) than the 333, but both are pretty much junk. I'm still looking for what I will use for squirrel shooting. Will try CCI standard velocity and a few other cheaper varieties when I next get to the range. What would you recommend I try for more reliable .22 lr hunting ammo? I'd sure hate to shoot squirrels with $20 to $25 dollar a box ammo. Thanks!

It shot just as good in his gun as it did in mine. He was so happy with it he called me want more of it. Just to give you an idea how well it shot, I bought every box they had of it. Yes, I’m a hoarder of good shooting 22 ammo!!
I have two 2013 Anschutz, one in a red McMillan stock and the other in a factor wood stock. I have to keep the ammo label for each gun.
I personally will use the same ammo for squirrel as I was with paper targets.

Shooting with a good chronograph (I use a LabRadar) will tell you a lot about what ammo to use. Due to the poor BC of rimfires ammo, having cartridges with the lowest ES will invariably give you the best precision/accuracy. My best lot of Eley match will average 15 fps ES over many chronographed groups. Most all of the various SK ammo will be above 20 fps ES. The same with about all of the cheaper ammo.

Time to start using the lab radar to see what kind of es I’m getting. I have a feeling i will see similar results to what you’re seeing.

I have shot very limited amounts of elay 10x. It generally gave me extreme spreads only 2 to 3 ft per second better than Eli match. And the groups did not seem to be any better than Eli match so I am pretty well reserved to using strictly elay match. With the 25 MOA base on my CZ and the 36x Weaver I am able to get out to 300 yd. It seems as I recall the groups were more in the five to six inch range. Since it is too hard to keep track of wind flags unless they're large I have been reluctant to continue shooting out quite that far. 200 is quite doable. End with my setup I do not have to readjust my scope so I can always go right back to 100 yd.
