A friend of mine had some of these on hand so I convinced him to let me try them since he wasn't using them at the moment. The 270gr ELDX and 285gr ELDM are pretty much the same designed bullet they take exactly the same seating depth in my rifle which is nice. I loaded up 10 (5) with 106grs of RL33 and (5) 106.5grs This was only a quick 100 yard test to see if they would shoot and to test the velocity.
The 285gr ELDM shoot well at 100 yards and out to 1,000 yards on paper equal to my 300gr SMK. The 270gr shot equally well at 100 yards so that was encouraging since this barrel will tell you real quick if it likes a bullet or hates a bullet there doesn't seem to be any in between. The velocity of the 270gr was a impressive 3165fps using 106grs of RL33. 106.5grs didn't go any faster and the group opened up a little so 106grs seems to be the magic number for this barrel. I do believe RL33 is on the slow side for this lighter bullet to bad they don't make a RL30 that would probably be a real screamer in the EDGE with 250gr to 270gr bullets.
Hope to test this at 1k but since we can only shoot on Sunday afternoons it will all depend on conditions.

Well I got to test these at 1K today conditions were not great but we shot anyway. At 3150fps they do shot flat 100 yard zero to dead on with 19.2 MOA up. That's pretty darn good for a case this size. The also shot good enough for hunting4 out of the 5 shots were in 5 inches with very little vertical and 1 shot was higher out of the group but still well within the kill zone of a deer so that gives me 3 bullet combinations that will work in the .338 Edge. Life is good.
