I ran another test with my Dasher using all the new components bullets , powder and primers. I loaded up 25 rounds using 31.4grs of H4895 and the 103gr VT. I started off with the following seating depths of 1.815 AOL using a Stoney point gauge and dial caliper same as a Hornady setup. 1.815 gives me contact with the lands but puts no visible land mark on the bullet. Then I seated deeper with each set of going from 1.815 to 1.812 1.809 1.806 1.803
When you have the correct powder charge you should see at least 3 seating depths shoot the same size group I actually had 4 sets from 1.815 to 1.806 1.803 looked like it stared to open up. the first four seating depths produce 5 shoot groups of .740 to .780 seating depth 1.803 produced a .960 So the most important thing is I can load to the 1.815 seating depth and not worry about chasing the lands because the gun will shoot all the back to 1.806 which would take several hundred rounds to wear that far.
I also shot Berger 105gr VLD and 107gr SMK using 33.4grs of Varget and they all shot very well at 365 I have used the 107SMK in the past and have shot some nice groups at 1,000 yards. They are a good bullet but they do require a lot of sorting to get enough match quality bullets and they have produce some unexplained flyers which really hurt you in a match.
